It saddens me that I must write this email and complain against Invention Home. When I owe them money they were really excited about my invention, my chewy Catan doggy travel tote. However when all the money was paid I have yet to have any communication I have reached out to learn that they have used all the resources regarding my pet product which they are supposed to specialize in pet products and I also was told if I want to reach out to other companies on my own I could but I thought that’s what I was paying them for so it saddens me that I must write this regarding Invention Home I have no idea where my Invention stands at this point for no one reaches out thank youBusiness response

We are in receipt of *** ************ complaint and surprised she chose to file a complaint with the BBB stating she has not had any communication with us and does not know where her account stands considering a member of our staff spoke to her on 7/24/23 to discuss her product and marketing status. Based on that conversation, *** ********** was going to consider whether or not she wanted to waive confidentiality so that we could approach additional companies for marketing efforts and let us know, but we never heard back from her.
We would request *** ********** contact our office, as discussed, so that we can resolve her complaint and discuss where things stand.
Thank you.

We are in receipt of *** ********* complaint and are sorry to hear of his dissatisfaction. We have not done business with *** ******* since April 2022, so it is surprising that he filed a complaint almost a year later.
*** ******* suggests in his complaint that he did not know he was required to file for additional patent protection, but this information is incorrect. When *** ******* became a customer of InventionHome in 2021, he was supplied with two agreements (see attached documents and highlighted areas) that clearly explained additional patent protection would need filed in order for InventionHome to continue marketing services once the provisional patent application expired. *** ******* agreed to both documents in January 2021. Further, *** ******* was contacted by the patent attorney to discuss various options available, but he declined to move forward with additional patent protection. Per our policy, and to protect customer and product confidentiality, InventionHome deactivated *** ********* account.
If any further information is required, please feel free to contact me.

**** ********before I paid them any money I should of been made aware that an extra $7000 would be needed to keep working with them. That’s not just easy money to come across. Im sure if it cost that much I would have waited and now paid for nothing. They’re hustling people out of money because they don’t show proof that they’re even contacting companies to advertise your invention.

I am writing to you because I no longer need your service(s). And I need my money back.
in May, I wrote to you and gave you a deadline to do something or give my money back. So far you haven't done either. They responded by saying "Progress".
I have given you almost $10 thousand dollars and the only thing I have seen is two low-budget videos and two overnight patent searches.
The only thing that is constant with them is more money. When I see Mr. H****'s name l automatically know that they want more money. I refuse to give them another $10,800 more, it's over.
I refuse to keep going on with the 5th of the month thing. It's the same thing. Nothing changes.
Your response now is "Progress", really.
I was also told that an idea is chosen every two weeks. And I was also told that they will refund my money if I wasn't pleased with their service(s). They also said that they have thousands of companies to send the invention(s) to. I refuse to keep kicking this can down the road. I was waiting to see that happen, but so far they just need more money. NO!
They have only submitted about 75 videos to their companies. Then I read again "Progress", no more progress. I need my money back so I can find someone else to help me. You haven't done anything for the amount of money that I have given to you.
Who goes to an invention show and takes no inventions? They did.
I have so many e-mails from inventionhome.com. My internet bill went from $30.00 a month to $75.00. I have so many e-mails from them that my bill is still in jeopardy of increasing. Who does business over the internet? They do. And Kristin J***** is a.
When I asked for my money back I was told that when a company wants the invention I will get paid first, I need my money back. I am on hold with these people and I will do what I have to do to get my money back. I will let inventors know how they conduct business. On a monetary basis, yes. I need my money back so I can move on.
Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.
Kind regards,
****** * ********Business response

We are in receipt of Ms. ******** complaint and would like to clarify false statements and misconceptions.
Ms. ******** is a repeat customer and purchased services from InventionHome in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Both purchases resulted in the following services that Ms. ******** received: patent search, provisional patent application, premium portfolio website, and audio enhancement. Ms. ******** suggests in her complaint that all she received was “two low-budget videos and two overnight patent searches” which is clearly a false and inaccurate statement.
To clarify, Ms. ******** received the following services: two professional patent searches completed by a highly reputable law firm, two provisional patent applications filed with the United States Patent & Trademark Office giving her “patent pending” status for both inventions (see attached), and two professional portfolio websites with audio enhancement, both of which Ms. ******** approved. Further, we would like to point out that after Ms. ******** approved of the work InventionHome provided to her, she was presented with a customer survey and raved about the services with the following survey comments: “I appreciate everything you have done. I could not do anything close to what you all have done. You are timely in every facet of this process. And, you are professional, courteous, truthful and reliable. Thank you, ******.”
Ms. ******** contacted our company mid-August 2022 suggesting that she no longer required our services and demanded a refund. Unfortunately, we were not able to extend a refund because all paid services were completed and approved of by Ms. ********. All services were outlined in the Work Verification and Service Agreement documents (see attached) that Ms. ******** agreed to in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
We are sorry that Ms. ******** is dissatisfied and equally sorry that Ms. ********’ product(s) were not picked up by a company for licensing; however, whether a company chooses to license a product is not within our control and should not negate the services we provided.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
It is indeed true that I liked the artwork done by Invention home on "Intimate." I accepted the drawing(s) but wanted to change things about it. It was too late when I wanted to make some changes because It has inconsistencies in it. I also knew that I could make changes when the idea was chosen by a company. I don't have $5,400 more dollars to give them.
It is indeed true that accepted the artwork done on "SaniPlus" and "SaniWipes". I was out of time to make changes to them as well. The video is somewhat lifeless. I didn't know if he wanted to say grace or if he was waiting for someone to put food on his plate. I don't have $5,400 more dollars to give them.
SaniPlus was supposed to be a trio. It was supposed to be SaniPlus, SaniWipes, and SaniMist.
I have been going to VAMC in Oklahoma City since 1990. I have seen all sorts of illnesses there. People coughing, won't wash their hands, and need haircuts and shaves.
I wanted to see if I could get a VA contract for veterans. I called VA in D.C., but I am not sure what to do or who to contact. I also gave Inventionhome some names, as well.
I've received five or six different e-mails from invention home about filing a Non-Provisional Patent(NPP). I got the first one about five weeks after I gave them the initial payment. I wish they were more adamant about my inventions.
I don't understand why invention home can't keep my inventions in "patent pending" status until I can figure this out.
Kind regards,
Regards,****** ********

*** ******** contacted our office on September 8, 2022 notifying us that she no longer needed our services (see attached). Based on her request, InventionHome deactivated and closed both of her accounts.
The emails *** ******** received regarding the non-provisional patent are courtesy emails that go to all customers as a reminder that their patent protection will expire in 12 months. We do this in order to provide good customer service and to give our customers enough time to decide if pursuing longer patent protection is something they would like to do. The fees that *** ******** is referencing are not InventionHome fees but rather fees the patent attorney charges for the non-provisional patent application preparation and filing.Customer response

We are in receipt of ***** ************ complaint and would like to clarify some of *** ************ misconceptions and false accusations about the services that were provided to her.
*** ********** did not purchase services of a “patent and 1 year license” from InventionHome. *** ************ purchased an Invention Portfolio consisting of high-resolution, 3D designs and audio enhancement, and a provisional patent application. Marketing and licensing services were done at no cost.
During setup of *** ************ account it was communicated to her in the provisional patent application Work Verification that her application would expire in 12 months and, at that time, she would need to make a decision whether or not to pursue additional patent protection. InventionHome emailed her a courtesy reminder when her application was about to expire and referred her to the patent attorney that filed her provisional application. InventionHome did not require *** ********** to pay us additional monies. Her conversation regarding additional patent protection costs would have been between her and the patent firm, not InventionHome.
While it is unfortunate that *** ************ product idea has not been licensed, that fact does not negate the services which were provided. We performed all services with her approval, and nowhere in our documentation do we promise any type of success. When *** ********** contacted InventionHome she was provided with, and acknowledged having read, disclosures detailing all services and fees. InventionHome actively marketed her product to companies currently looking to expand their product lines, however, chose not to enter into a license agreement. Again, that result is unfortunate, but it does not negate the services provided.Customer response

We are in receipt of *** ************ additional comments and would like to further clarify the fales misconceptions *** ********** continues to bring against InventionHome.
*** ********** did not spend $5,000.00 with InventionHome. A breakdown of the services purchased is as follows:Patent Search $299.00
Provisional Patent Application $529.00
Provisional Patent Application filing fee $70.00
3D Images Invention Portfolio $2799.00
The total amount paid to InventionHome for tangible services is $3697.00. *** ********** continues to make the accusation that she was “scammed” in some way; however, the services paid for are in no way a "scam" but rather tangible services that were completed, approved and delivered to *** **********. We can understand the disappointment that *** ************ product did not license; however, the rate of success with new products is 3-5% in the very best of circumstances. This is why our paperwork cautions an inventor that there are absolutely no guarantees as to if we will be able to find them a deal or not. This information was communicated to *** ********** in the Service Agreement that she agreed to on 9/9/2020.
*** ************ account was closed on 12/9/2021, once her provisional patent application expired, and no further marketing efforts were made. Her website was deactivated, and companies did not have access to her invention information. *** ********** suggests there are similar products to hers on the market and that InventionHome “stole her idea” and are now financially profiting from it. This could not be further from the truth and is an accusation that we do not take lightly. InventionHome is not in business to steal our customer inventions. Furthermore, any similar products on the market more than likely took 3 to 5 years for a company to develop, test, patent, manufacturer, and ultimately place on the market for sale. We would be more than happy to research any products *** ********** found to determine the date of patent and/or manufacturing to put her mind at ease though. Please forward all pertinent product information to us and we will check into it.Initial Complaint

I entered in a contract with Invention Home by submitting an invention idea and did not get the service i was expecting. Every month they were to submit my invention to companies and they refused to be transparent with me and let me know anything about what the company said about the invention or who the company was at all. The company Invention Home was very terrible about follow up and customer service. The end of my contract was October and I have yet to hear anything from them. I feel like they just took my idea and money and just let it sit for a year and didn't take it seriously.Business response

We are in receipt of *** ******** complaint and sorry to read of his disappointment.
To clarify some of the misinformation contained in the complaint, *** ****** entered into a contract with InventionHome for the preparation and filing of a provisional patent application and creation of a portfolio website, not for marketing services. As communicated in the online Service Agreement that *** ****** agreed to, marketing services are done on a contingency basis. This means that we only receive a commission if we are successful in licensing the invention, so our goal is to license as many products as we can. *** ******** comment that he did not receive the service he was expecting is completely false and likely tied to frustration and disappointment that his product was not licensed.
In reviewing *** ******** marketing activity, InventionHome sent his product to 160 companies. 3 of those companies reviewed the product multiple times but chose not to pursue further. Had any company expressed interest or had questions, *** ****** would have been contacted immediately and company information shared. Unfortunately, we had no information to share with *** ******* We utilize a Marketing Activity Program (MAP Report) to keep our customers updated on marketing efforts, and this was available to *** ****** to review on a monthly basis. We are committed to providing a good service to our customers and work extremely hard marketing products. We do not have any control over which products get interest from companies though.
Please feel free to contact me should you require any further information.
