Watchman German Shepherd knowingly sold my wife and I two 8-month-old puppies whose mother (***) has a defective ear. We later found out that this ******* video entitled How to get my German Shepherds ears to stand up! was uploaded 7 months prior to the purchase of our dogs. It features our puppys mother ***. ****** starts out by saying We have *** with us today *** has a lazy ear. ******************************************************************************************** We now own two adult male shepherds with floppy ears for which we paid $5,830. ***'s defective ear should have been disclosed to us prior to the purchase.

Hi, GSD puppy ears standing up is not a guarantee that I, or any other German Shepherd breeder guarantees. A breeder has no way of knowing what a puppy is exposed to that may contribute to ears that don't stand up by adulthood. As ************** stated he purchased 2 male GSD's from me. It is the new puppy owners responsibility to make sure that the puppies are not being overly playful especially where ear biting is concerned. It is highly unusual that any GSD's ears don't stand up, never mind two from the same litter. ************** mentioned the dam *** who did have a lazy ear. A lazy ear is not a floppy ear, and of course ************** met *** in person.

In closing I am sorry for ************** concerning the ears on his puppies, but since I do not guarantee erect ears on my dogs for stated reason I do not feel that I am liable to refund him for the ears.

      Sincerely,

      *****************************

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

      Hi ***************,

******************** is well within his rights as a business owner to not guarantee his puppy's ears to stand erect, and I certainly would not challenge that right. It is my contention though that he (as someone who claims to be a ********** is not Biblically justified to mislead, deceive, and or hide the truth in order to sell his puppies.

After stressing to him on the day of the sale how important it is to me for my puppy's ears to stand

      1) He did not disclose that one of dam ***'s ears was lazy.

      2) He advised my wife and me that buying 2 male puppies was a good idea. Proven later to be knowingly false. Even the trainer that he recommends told us of multiple reasons why he was wrong for selling two male sibling puppies to the same family.

      3) He did not tell us that puppies being overly playful with each other was even a concern, else we would absolutely not have spent close to $6,000 on 2 siblings. He in fact knew prior to the sale that when having 2 male puppies, it is not uncommon for them to damage each others ears. How do I know this? One of his ******* videos shows that he sold 2 male puppies to someone else whos puppies injured their ears as well. In that case he accepted both of those puppies back. I'd be interested to know why he took back those puppies but wont take back ours as well.

      4) Most importantly, if someone is preaching the gospel while he's selling his dogs, he should be completely forthright to the purchaser regarding all the issues pertaining to the sale of his dogs, else it would be a bad witness. So instead of hiding the fact that *** had a lazy ear, he should have told us that her ear was defective. And instead of saying it was a good idea to purchase two siblings at the same time, especially knowing that standing ears is a huge issue with the German Shepherd line, he should have discouraged us. All he had to do was tell us that having two siblings can damage both their ears and I would have put a down-payment on the one puppy that we originally came to see. That surely would have been the ******-like thing for him to do.

As I write this, I realize that the BBB probably has no jurisdiction over this type of matter, and this should probably somehow be handled within the churches. I apologize *************** if I have wasted your time.

      Thank you,
      *****************
