I hired a contractor that installed a roof for me from **** *******. This was a rental property that the previous tenants left in horrible conditions. Once he completed the roof I asked him if he knew of any other contractors that would be interested in painting the interior of the house and replacing the flooring. He stated he could do the job and quoted me a price of $8500 for a house of about 1200 sq. ft. Since he had done the job of the roof I agreed to give him 75% of the cost up front. He started the project on or about 15 Sep 21 and said he would be complete the week of 20 September. On 21 September he sent me a text stating he could not do the flooring due to the COVID pandemic creating a shortage of flooring. The text also stated he was sending a refund check for the flooring and restated I paid him 75% of $8400. On 6 Oct I sent him my address for the refund check after a phone call that he said he misplaced. My realtor went to the property and said that he prime coated about three rooms and let paint run down the wall all over the cabinets base boards heaters and into electrical outlets. I hired another contractor that confirmed all the same information and said he left 10 gallons of primer and about $20 worth of $1 paint brushes. The current contractor had to sand the primer off prior to paint replace the electrical outlets and clean up the base board and base board heaters had to be replaced do to excessive paint and added several weeks to the project. I finally received a letter post marked 26 Oct 21 for $3000 and an invoice charging me for paint and three days labor. I have attempted to contact him multiple times and sent a text requesting receipts, and he will not reply. While I understand I will have to pay for the materials of what he can provide recipes for, the labor is the questionable aspect and this project based on his poor work has cost me money and time and dispute the three days of charged labor. I cant gather statements/ evidence.
