The 11 year old Rheem outdoor air conditioner unit had stopped working just one year after the warranty expired and I called for a technician to check out the reason why.. He diagnosed it as a faulty compressor and said that my options were to replace the compressor which would come with a one year warranty versus replacing the unit with a brand new unit with a ten year warranty. The company sent a sales man from the sales dept who spent some time looking things over and providing a quote to replace the system with a new one. I requested a quote from the parts dept on a replacement cost and was discouraged from following this option, after waiting some time for this information. The quote on the replacement part kept going up and up with nothing in writing. I decided to get a second opinion. The next company discovered the compressor was fine and the actual trouble was only that it needed a new fan motor and fixed it promptly, saving me thousands of dollars on replacement. I called Sauders asking to speak to the manager of the service department, and was told I would receive a call back, but business is closed for the day and no call back. I believe it was wrong to sell me a new system when the old one only needed a new fan motor. I'm seeking reimbursement for the $100 service call with the claim that the compressor was faulty.

To resolve this situation, our service department has recently reached out to the customer to discuss what transpired. The cost of the service call had already been reimbursed on 9/27/21.
