So I told the manager of the **************** location I did not want to continue with the lease of the storage locker as of February 1st. I took everything i wanted out of there except for a stuffed teddy bear and a few other small things. I was told to clean out my storage locker but I was so busy with work and moving I didn't have a chance to. They proceeded to charge me for rent for the month of February as well as a cleaning charge! This doesn't make any sense to me, if they were billing me to clean up the locker then why did they take another month worth of rent out? I asked them to refund me and they replied when you clean out your locker we will prorate money back to you.. this is extortion and was not in my contract that I signed. Please help me. My phone number is ********** and my email is ***************** Thank you for your time and hoping to hear back from you soon.

The terms of the lease, signed on November 15, 2021, clearly state that we both require 10 days’ written notice before moving out and when moving out, everything must be removed from the space, not just the “wanted” items. If items are left behind, we do have the option to charge a fee according to your lease. Ultimately, the Property Manager opted to not charge a clean out fee but did charge for the month of February as your items were still occupying the space as of the 1st of the month. Before the first, you were notified as to how to avoid any further fees, but the items were never removed despite previous interactions telling staff that they would be.

As of the date of this response, we have moved you out of our system and disposed of the items left behind. No further payments are due.

*Please reach out to [email protected] if you need another copy of your signed lease.

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
I argue the contract says storage world, LLC can charge me for a whole month instead of the cleaning fee. Also they did in fact charge me the cleaning fee as well as a month's rent.

      Regards,

      ******,

Based on multiple conversations with the Property Manager with the last being a conversation on 2/2/23, you had been informed that all items must be removed from the space before we could move you out. After the items weren't removed as promised, we moved you out only charging for the damages done to the space which was a total of $77.65 which we were given permission to charge to your card. No cleaning fee was applied nor charged. According to your lease signed November 15, 2021, Storage World does have the right to charge the month in full if your items are still in the space on the 1st of the month (Pg 2 Sect 3 of the Lease) and a cleaning fee if all items are not removed in a timely manner (Pg 2 Sect 8 of the Lease). You were charged for the monthly rent, but no cleaning fee. As a courtesy, our Property Manager even gave the option for you to move out your belongings and we would prorate the rent that was paid for the month, however this was never completed on your part. You have been moved out at this time and nothing further is owed.
