What happened to my organization is exactly what I am reading in each one of these complaints. Seems to be one common denominator. My organization can only order with Purchase orders and with companies that we have accounts with. North Star randomly called me one day acting like they knew me. Informed me they were sending me some free samples to try out. Multiple boxes of stuff arrived that I didnt order along with an invoice. Absolutely disgusting the way they conduct business and by the looks of all these complaints its not just a coincidence.Business response

****, you called us when you had received our 4 cases of merchandise stating that there was a miscommunication on both our parts. In an effort to rectify the situation, we had emailed you *** Return Labels for you to send our products back to us free of charge. We never even sent you an invoice. And yet, you unnecessarily filed this derogatory complaint on the BBB. Having spoken to you again the other day, you said that it was all a big misunderstanding, and that you would contact the BBB, and have them remove your complaint. NorthStar Products shipped us product that we did not order. I returned the full box (at my expense). Now they claim that I did not return all of the product and still owe them money. I will pay them nothing.Business response

On August 15th, Location Manager Roger B********* had ordered a case of Industrial Strength N95 **** Respirators from us. On September 13th, we received the case back that you had decided to return to us. However, one of the inside boxes that you had sent back was half empty! Therefore, since you kept and used a portion of our products, we sent you a revised invoice. And now, instead of you paying for what you kept and used, you file this bogus complaint with the BBB.Initial Complaint

Called to say they were interested in our business becoming a customer and wanted to send samples and asked to confirm address and they would come to visit us when they were in the area. Did not inform regarding the cost of samples for any fees associated. Sent samples and a bill for $739.10.Business response

The sales rep never said he was sending samples! On June 7th, you specifically ordered cases of blue nitrile gloves in size large. The sales rep then thanked you for the order, therefore clarifying that it was an order. The cases were shipped on June 7th, and delivered to you on June 8th. On June 21st, you unnecessarily filed this complaint with the BBB without even speaking with our company regarding the matter. On June 22nd, NorthStar Customer Service made numerous calls, and left messages on your personal and work numbers trying to reach you to address the matter, but you never responded. There was no need to file this bogus complaint with the BBB!

I am rejecting this response because:The information in the response by the business was not accurate. I did not specifically ask for gloves, I was asked if I would like to be sent samples of gloves. He told me specifically he tried to stop by my place of work to provide business information. He went as far to say, that next time he was in our area he would stop in and provide us with a ******* gift card and in the meantime to "try out the gloves" he would be sending. I was excited to receive his call because we have been looking for new cleaning supply vendors. We did not set up an account or place an order with the organization and there was no quote, request for credit, purchase order prior to receiving the items. When I did attempt to call the number back, I received busy signals.
Today I was able to speak with Colleen, she was going to have someone send return labels from **** Colleen was very helpful and pleasant to speak with. However, I will not be closing the complaint until I have received the labels as there have been other complaints listed concerning not receiving the labels.
I reached out to the BBB before the business because of documented complaints of hostel language and profanity when speaking with others that found myself in the same situation with this company. Written communication is the mode of communication in which I feel safe and does not result in "he said, she said" conduct.
I ask the owner to be considerate with the word "bogus" or attacking the character of others.

You're stating that you're rejecting our response because you feel it was not accurate, and yet your response is full of inaccuracies..., but it's senseless to continue this disagreement back and forth.
As far as you saying you received busy signals when attempting to call us, if you dialed our correct number, with our phone system when a line is occupied, it will roll over to another line until ending up at our answering machine, so you never get a busy signal.
In regards to anyone saying they hadn't received return labels, it was only because they didn't realize that the *** Return Labels are emailed from ***, and not directly from us, and once they were reminded of that, they found the return labels as promised. Your *** Return Labels were emailed to you on June 28th, and to date, you haven't used them to return our products.
If you feel safe communicating in writing, please email us directly instead of unnecessarily involving the BBB. Or since you said Colleen was very helpful and pleasant to speak with, feel free to call Colleen, she'll be happy to help you.

12/01/2021 This company called me and said they were sending some free gloves for us to try at no cost. I agreed to accept the free gloves. They then turned around and billed the gloves out at an outrageous price. This is not the first time this company has schemed us on products.Business response

The sales rep never said he was sending some free gloves for you to try at no cost! On December 1, 2021, you had specifically ordered black nitrile gloves in size large. The sales rep then thanked you for the order, therefore clarifying that it was an order! On December 28th, you called NorthStar insisting on talking to the sales rep, and saying that you wanted to return the gloves. You wanted the sales rep to "zero out the invoice", and the sales rep told you, that once we get all of our gloves back unused, that we would gladly cancel everything out. On January 3rd, 2022, you returned 2 of 5 unopened/unused boxes of our gloves! On January 4th, NorthStar faxed a revised invoice to your location AP person, for what you kept and used of our products. On January 5th, you called NorthStar saying that you had received the revised invoice, and that you didn't want to pay for the gloves that you kept and used. And again, on April 19th, you called NorthStar still not wanting to pay for what you kept and used, you ranted, made several derogatory remarks, and then hung up! Then you filed this slanderous review with the BBB!Initial Complaint

I work at an ** center and I recieved a phone call in September from a man telling me about northstar companies and some of their products. I believe his name was *** but I'm not sure. He told me that he wasn't available to come to our location because of covid-19 but he wanted to send us a catalog and a free gift. So he asked a few questions about what kinds of gloves we go through. If I would prefer to get green chemical gloves or just plastic gloves. I told him that it was unnecessary to send us a free gift but he insisted. I then explained that the green chemical ones would be better as we have a bunch of disposable gloves. He said that in a couple of weeks i would have a free box of the green chemical gloves and their catalog. The gloves came a few weeks later. Now today November 3rd 2021 i get an invoice for $507.20. No i will not pay this as i never agreed to purchase anything. I have made many calls and left many messages trying to get someone to call me back and delete this invoice.Business response

There are a lot of inconsistencies in your story! On October 6th you spoke to the salesman (not in September). The salesman never said "that in a couple of weeks you would have a free box of green chemical gloves"! The salesman never said he was sending you free gloves at all. You had ordered a box of green chemical gloves specifying that the men use large Size 10. The salesman thanked you for the order. The gloves were shipped to you the next day, on October 7th. They were delivered to you on October 11th (unlike you said "the gloves came a few weeks later"). On Wednesday, November 3rd, you had called 2 times, and left 1 message on the answering machine after business hours (unlike you said "you made many calls and left many messages"). And then you immediately, and unnecessarily, filed this slanderous review with the BBB!
In the meantime, having spoken to you, we've issued you a *** Return Label to send back our products at no cost to you.

The Salesman from this company called to offer "free" gloves to a supervisor at the company I work at. The salesman offered them as a sample and promised them to be chemical safety rated. The gloves arrived and they are nothing but green dishwashing gloves. Then we received an invoice for 4x the amount we pay our normal supplier for heavy duty chemical safety gloves. I have called the phone number on the invoice and the woman's voice comes on saying no one is available to take my call. I have left 2 messages and called 5 times with no response. I need a return label to return this product and to have this company remove my company from their list of contacts. I am sure they record their sales calls with all that is going on with this company. I would like for them to play that recording and every recording because something as consistent as this occurrence sure they would start to try to determine what's going on?Business response

The salesman never said he was sending free sample gloves! On August 17th, ****** ****** had ordered Industrial Strength, Heavy Duty, Green, Chemical Resistant Gloves. He specifically requested Size 10. The salesman thanked him for the order, and the gloves were sent. On Thursday, September 9th, you had called at the end of the business day, and left 1 message to give you a call, and then you called back 5 minutes later and left a second message! The fact that Customer Service had already left for the day, and no one called you back immediately, you then felt compelled to file this slanderous review with the BBB. Also, the Caller ID reflects that you had only called 2 times, you exaggerated that you called 5 times, just as is your exaggerated account of our products and this entire transaction!
In the meantime, having spoken to you, we've issued you a *** Return Label for you to send back our products to us free of charge. And rest assured, we have removed you from our list of contacts.

Fraudulent and predatory sales tactics. I was called out of the blue by a sales person for Northstar Products. He asked if we use disposable nitrile gloves. I said we did and he said he would like to send us a box and $35 gift card to try their product. Both came and a bill was sent for around $450. I was given the impression they would be free to try. The value of the gloves were $150 maximum. The secretary paid the bill . HOWEVER some time later the salesman called again wanting to send me another box of gloves. I told him DO NOT SEND ANYTHING UNLESS I SPECIFICALLY ASK FOR IT. The gloves came anyway and so did a bill for another $480 for less than $150 worth of gloves. Now the company wont return my calls.Business response

On June 8th, you had ordered a case of nitrile gloves, size XL. The salesman never said he was sending them free to try. On July 12th, the invoice was paid. On July 13th, you spoke to the salesman again, and had ordered green chemical gloves, size 10. You had also given the salesman your cell phone number, as well as your email address for him to send you a catalog for future orders. At the time, you did not tell the salesman, "not to send anything unless you specifically ask for it", otherwise we wouldn't have sent the order. With both the aforementioned orders, you didn't refuse the shipments, or call us when you received the products, or give us any indication that there was a problem. On August 11th, Northstar **************** spoke to your Accounts Payable person, who said that she'd be sending us a check to pay for the second invoice. At the end of the business day on August 11th, you had left 1 message on Northstar's answering machine, to please give you a call. Northstar **************** had already left for the day, so because we hadn't called you back immediately, you had UNNECESSARILY filed this review with the BBB!
In the meantime, having spoken to you, we've issued you a *** Return Label for you to send back the green chemical gloves to us free of charge.

Your slanderous remarks are unnecessary! I stated that you gave your email address to the salesman for him to send you a catalog for future orders. As far as you saying you didn't need the gloves, having spoken to you previously, we had issued you a *** Return Label for you to return the gloves to us free of charge, and yet to date, you still haven't sent them back!Customer response
