On Friday, 6/3/2022 CVA Plumbing, Heating & A/C, LLC contracted with me to "troubleshoot" my air conditioning system and charged $370. They had previously been to my home on 5/26/2022 to "clean" the air conditioning system and charged $395. On or about 5/27/2022 every time my air conditioner would start up, the circuit breaker would trip off. After a few days of this, CVA was contacted to come back to my home to find out why the A/C was tripping the circuit breaker since they had just been there a few days earlier to clean the A/C. On 6/3/2022 an employee of CVA named "****" stated that I "needed a new A/C system". I contacted another HVAC company (************) to get a competitive quote on a new A/C and they arrived at my home on 6/7/2022 for that quote. Upon arrival, the ************ employee checked the air handler unit in my attic and was concerned about a door missing on the unit and stated "the air handler was pulling very hot attic air through it". ************ employee then checked the supply vents in the ceiling and realized they were all closed! This ************ employee stated "the air handler was pulling in very hot air from my attic and most vents were closed" he felt this was causing an added stress on the A/C and therefore the circuit breaker making it trip off. Please be aware that I am 71 yrs old, had a stroke a few years back and am disabled. I have been told that any reasonable HVAC employee should have checked those vents while on a "troubleshoot" appointment. I feel CVA sent an unqualified employee who did not do a proper job troubleshooting the problem and telling me my A/C needed to be replaced when in fact it did not. After the ************ employee taped off the opening in the air handler and opened the supply vents, my A/C unit has been working perfectly fine ever since 6/7/2022 and their charge was only $159, less than half of what CVA charged. Owner of CVA (*****) has verbally agreed to refund me for that 2nd visit and to date, has not.Business response
