Roofer came a quoted repair. We accepted. He came and made the repair. He said further repair was necessary but he fixed the leak. He didn’t. He came back a second time and said the problem was the water was running through the ductwork. There appears there was a time that was happening but during the course of renovations the a new furnace was installed and the venting was run elsewhere. He argued this back and forth with my husband and told me to go ahead and file with BBB so here it is. The pictures included show the pipes that run through the wall where the leak is. My husbands explanation to him “ Here are pictures of the anatomy of those vent stacks. The first is the second floor bathroom the second is the first floor bathroom and the third is the "problem area" and the forth is where it is leaking. The large vent pipe is for the two toilets and bathtubs. The smaller one is for the two vanities. Neither of these stacks are connected to the hvac or furnace. They are vented through the side wall through the garage. Water is getting under the shingles because of how the vent boots are installed. Traveling down the sidewall of the vent pipe and when it reaches the end dripping through that hole in the floor into the basement. When it reaches the basement floor it then flows towards the floor drain where the tenant has seen the water. Your theory that the water is coming into the vent and into the duct work is not possible, they are not connected. ” we are seeking our money back since the problem was not corrected.
