In August, I met with Dan and put down a deposit on treatment. That evening, I decided not to proceed with any treatment and texted and emailed to cancel. I then called the next day. After jumping through hoops to get my money back, ( receiving another document by certified mail that I then had to sign and return by certified mail), it is now October and my refund still hasn’t been processed. I have called and talked to his receptionist multiple times who apparently can not process my refund although she’s the one who processed my payment!? She tells me she’ll let Dan know, or that he’s out of town, etc. After I wrote an unhappy Google review, I finally got a call from Dan who proceeded to threaten me with a lawsuit if I didn’t take down my review. Apparently, part of the paperwork I signed was that I couldn’t publicly say anything about his business. Can this even be legal? Anyway, he was to send me another paper to sign to get my refund back along with a copy of the papers I already signed. In about a week on a Friday, I received the paper to sign, but no copies of the papers I had already signed. On Monday, I got a call from Dan to essentially tell me that his “partners” (although he and his wife are the only ones listed under the business info. on the BBB), already talked to a lawyer and that they were going to sue me if I didn’t take down the review. He even said I needed to drive to his office the next day between 9:30 and 12:30 to deliver the signed paper and then I’d get my refund and copies of the signed papers. When I said I couldn’t get there the next day, he then restated that if I didn’t take down my review I would be served court papers. After reading several other complaints that have been made about this man, this has become more than just about getting my money back. I believe this business is set up specifically to take peoples’ money and make sure they have no recourse when they are unsatisfied with the service.

I went to the PA Hypnosis Center in mid May 2021 for a free consultation for weight loss. I discussed W/ Dan V******* (owner) my problem issues and he was to create a 10 session plan designed FOR ME for $899. I went back for my first session & went into a room w/ Dan. He started by playing relaxing music and then started to talk, by the end of the session I realized he had left the room and had been playing a "generic" weight loss tape of his voice which had gone over NONE of the problems issues I had discussed w/ him. When I had left the room there was a folder w/ my name on it in the door which I assumed to be my chart. It was EMPTY... I had a doctor appointment the following week and discussed w/ my physician the hypnosis treatment and he advised against it. I called the hypnosis center and spoke w/ the office manager and told her of all my concerns and said I no longer wanted to be a patient of their facility and requested a refund. She was to have Dan return my call. I had to call again because I had not heard back from him. He told me he would send me a certified letter w/ refund information I could sign and return certified. The letter I received were for fees I had never seen or signed for and he was only going to refund less than half of my money. I answered the letter and hand delivered it to the center. I then received another certified letter stating the same things as the first and he advised me to not deliver the letter but to mail it certified this time. I again answered the letter in the same way I had the first, requesting a refund and dropped it in their mailbox. In between all this back and forth mailing he left me a voicemail (which I have a copy) "so that adjustments, explanations and processes can be made..." (I also have a copy of the Visa charge receipt, which is signed but not by me.) I then tried to go thru my WesBanco Visa card to obtain the $ several times but was denied. I have tried on my own and thru my card services. Please help me.

Response to compliant made by ***** ******. Ms. ****** attended a free consultation and evaluation in our office. After her consultation, we recommended she participate in our Hypnotherapy program. We explained that we have a specific type of hypnosis known as the 33 Method. We also explained that because we would prepare Ms. ******'s program in advance our policy is that no refunds will be given. We have attached a copy of refund/cancellation policy which is posted at our front desk window, copy of her signed credit card slip, and signed copy of her Success guarantee, stating we do not give refunds. We agreed to make an exception for Ms. ****** and sent 2 separate certified letters which she refused to sign. We have also included a copy of our privacy and non-disclosure agreement which does not permit her to publicly speak about anything with PA Hypnosis Center. We had tried several times to satisfy her.

We will restart the process we just need Ms. ****** to contact us to move forward.

Please call our office at ###-###-#### if you have any questions or need additional information.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I have tried to resolve this issue w/ Dan V******* unsuccessfully on my own via back and forth certified mail. I am not satisfied w/ his offer of a $411 refund of $899 payment of one audiotape session. I am asking for the BBB to seek a full/better refund on my behalf.

      Regards,

      ***** ******
