8/21/2023, 8/28/2023 Repair leak in roof Amt of claim $4000 R Vance on 9/21/2023 inspected roof with estimate of $5200 and wanted payment of $3200 which I gave. At that time he kept telling it would take 3 days to clear and telling he would be using his own money to buy materials. I said there was no rush to wait till check cleared. He returned on 8/28/2023 was on the roof and said I needed more repairs. He wrote up an estimate of$3295. He asked for cash. I gave him $800 and a check for $1995. Also asked about Erie Homeowners and he said he taking care of it. I was concerned and on 9/29/2023 called Erie. Erie knew. Nothing about my claim. Erie then made an appt to inspect the roof on 10/2/2023. I told Rodney. and he said he would be here with when Erie was here. He never showed. On 9/29/2023 I stopped payment on the $1995 check. I also told I did not want him to do the work and asked for a refund. Many times during our conversation he told me I would not be paying the deductible he would include in his estimate. He also-wanted to give a $10,000 free front porch covering. I said no. He has not answered my calls. I left several messages.

Contractor collected $4900 on June 3, 2021 to install fascia on my house. Over the last 10 months, we have tried to schedule. He finally showed up on April 4, 2022 and now wants to change the entire scope of the project and wants more money. He also attempted to change the original scope by excluding two(2) sides of my house. He is very distrustful.

***** ********* signed this contract with customer last year June 2021,  called to schedule start date, customer asked to hold off because he was going on vacation.  Now I had to call my contracts and move some around. Second call to schedule, he again wanted to hold off due to another vacation/trip. when time came to schedule once again, the weather turned bad, so both parties agreed on holding off until spring 2022. Called, scheduled start date, started job and noticed how bad the wood  was . called customer before continuing and set up appointment that same evening . everything was fine so I thought. the next day we see this complaint. I had kept in touch with him constantly. his contracts states no deposit is to be returned after 3 business days, we even went over this at time of signing and he said "no problem, I can even give  you next payment." I stated wait until start date. now he wants to cancel and he wants his money back. I have moved him around with  my other customers a few times, I have held him in that spot for 10 months, Now he wants out of contract.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Everything the contractor states is false. He was the one canceling the start dates repeatedly and is in violation of his promised start date of the first or second week of August 2021. In addition, his contract does not state a full  refund if notified in 3 days. I will be sending ********* ****** some additional information. This is an unbelievable account on his part, and he has past instances showing a repeated history of trying to deceive customers in the past.

He called me and said “Why did you do that” I said because I wasn’t happy with our meeting and that I don’t appreciate how you tried to change the scope of the project after waiting 10 months. He said that I was crazy and that he never said that he wasn’t going to do the side of the house. I disagreed and told him yes you did.

He also said that I agreed to the delay start date and that I do not have the right to ask for the money back, $4900. He said that I was in breach of contract and sent me a text of the contract.

      There was some more arguing.

I then sent the contract part that indicated that he was supposed to start either the 1st or 2nd week of August 2021.

I mailed him a demand letter this morning that I have attached. I sent this certified mail.

      Regards,
