Weed man provided service to my home for 1-2 years. They would call and try and renew every year. The service has been really bad and this past year I canceled. Weed man performed a service in May 2017, with no contract. They did this service as a sales tactic to strong arm me into renewing the contract. I spoke with them multiple times throughout 2017 and 2018, saying that we have no contract and I did cancel the service. The last time I spoke with the manager and he sometimes we/weed man make mistakes and said he would waive the $48.00 service fee in hopes of me returning as a customer next year. Today, Feb.5 2023, I recieved a letter from ************************, trying to collect on the debt. This is now going to affect my credit score, which is over 800 today. I am asking for the BBB to get involved and help put an end to Weed Man's aggressive sales tactics and remove the $48 fee.Thank you

Service: Summer/Fall Aeration & Seeding Date: 9/20/22 Price: $234.00 Services performed where not adequate as they used a machine that literally did nothing to my yard and then proceeded to sprinkle grass seed. I immediately called and eventually we decided they were to perform the service again with better machinery. Reschedule date was 9/29/22 with a rain date of 9/30/22. Sunny both days. No show on the 29th. I called on the 30th and was told I am on the schedule for today. No show on the 30th. Was then told I would be serviced first thing Monday (10/3). Rain 10/3 and 10/4. No show the rest of the week. Rescheduled for a 3rd time, received a text 10/7 that they would be out 'early next week'. No show 10/10, no show 10/11, no show 10/12. I called late on 10/12 and they told me I was on the schedule for 'tomorrow' 10/23. At this point I told them I don't want them to perform the service because they are wasting my time and giving me the run-around and asked them to remove the charge from my account and to let me know if that was a problem. They never reached out to me and I started getting texts about the amount I owed and now I am being threatened that my account will be turned over for collections. I gave them numerous opportunities to make this right and they left me hanging every time and always told me 'tomorrow'. I simply am asking them to remove the charge for the service they never performed correctly. I have the pictures to prove it and so do they. It's a completely fair and reasonable request. They refuse to remove the charge as it's not their policy. This after being a customer for 8 years!

I had the lawn cared for 1 time by this company. They need to be put out of business. I don't know what "? natural product" they applied to my lawn, but it killed my lawn. The actual GRASS was killed, not just weeds. They murdered my lawn with chemicals. This creates a dangerous run-off of chemicals into the water treatment in my town. Please close this business. Thank you for your attention in this matter. My father served in the Korean war, in 1952-53. I have a medical condition, I was diagnosed at age 19, this maybe due to my father's service (**** *******).**************************

      Hello **************************,
This letter is to serve as response to the complaint filed by ***************************, Complaint ID ********. **************** is a new customer with this application being her first service. The condition of the lawn, prior to Weed Man starting services, shows that the lawn had not been receiving pest control and turf maintenance services for a substantial time period to incur the amount of weeds present at that time.
We have been out to inspect the property after the application and have taken photos for her account records. The current condition of the turf is in line with the treatments that were applied and are working the way they were intended. Unfortunately, ******************** turf is in poor condition and is mostly all weeds, broadleaf and weed grasses. The property has a lot of wild violets, oxalis, clover, dallisgrass weed, and crabgrass. This specific application for the weeds during the summer is a spot treatment (only the weeds present are treated in isolation), as stated with the abundance of weeds on the lawn, most of the area had to be treated. The results of our treatment should be expected as we start to controlling the weed infestation. There are some healthy patches of grass in the yard, as represented in our photo records, that can be built upon to establish more grass and turn the lawn around. There is nothing uncommon, over applied or at fault in the appearance of the lawn.
All the products we use are approved by the *** and ********** of *********** and are applied in accordance to the label. In addition, once the weed control dries, approx. time of 20 minutes, it is inside the body of the plant and will not have run-off. As a company we are registered through the state, along with multiple members of our staff are certified and accredited in agronomy and pesticides.
We are willing to split the cost of the bill in half as a goodwill courtesy. We would also be willing to give **************** an Aeration and Seeding at no charge, to assist in starting to establish desirable grasses, like Tall Fescue, Kentucky Blue and Rye-grass. This would be the next step and evolution of lawn maintenance, aeration and seeding is one of the most important applications as it helps establish and maintain a thicker turf, as well as the turf density assists in choking out weeds.
We would also like to have our Technical Supervisor speak with **************** to explain the application process and set the proper expectations. Education is one of the biggest responsibilities we have in our industry, as this is turf grass science with many factors involved with the biology of plants.
      Thank you for your time.

On 6/9/22 I was contacted by weed man lawn service, discussed with the representative condition of my lawn and what was expected by technitions before visiting my property, I was assured all my concerns would be met. The next week my lawn was serviced without me being contacted beforehand because that was what I requested. Technician knocked on my door instead of ringing the doorbell which would have alerted me they were on the property, they proceeded to do a half a** job on my lawn as the cameras on the property revealed and I also did a visual inspection. I contacted the company and explained, I was assured I would get a call from a senior technician, but that never happened. I placed several calls and also requested a refund representative stated I havent paid to get a refund. After several weeks a senior technician came out we spoke about the situation, he offered free services and was very apologetic. I felt the damage had already been done because the first impression of this company wasn't good. I would really like to be done with the company and not have to deal with the payment being on my credit, because the service wasn't worth the price I paid . Please help

My husband ordered a aeration of the lawn. The company did not show up to perform after a few months to my husband cancelled it. The company showed up anyway and did the aeration. My husband got a text notification. When he called to see why they were at the house he was told they were almost done and he was pushed to believe he had to accept the services which were cancelled. I have called the company several times to point out we don't owe the money because it was cancelled and they bullied my disabled veteran husband into acting like he had to pay for the service because they performed it despite being cancelled. The company keeps telling me they will have a supervisor call me and the never do. Now they are claiming to have had a supervisor talk to me...when that NEVER happened. They sent us to collections over $149.00 for a service they performed while trespassing on my property to do a service that was cancelled. They are claiming the $149 is for other services but that's because they applied money for normal services to the aeration fee. Our account should be credited the cost of the aeration and then you will find they owe us money.

      Dear ***************,

This letter is to serve as a response to the complaint, ID ********, in regards to the billing of services for the ******* residence located at ******************************Douglassville, PA.

In reviewing the account, the correspondences have been noted for each contact with the ********, as well as all of our telephone calls are recorded for quality control purposes. In these instances we rely on the facts of what was discussed between the parties involved. In this specific case, we dispute the allegations presented in regards to the ordering and subsequent canceling of the aeration service. There have been numerous conversations with ****************** regarding the timing of the aeration and also applied a 10% discount for any inconvenience when the payment was received.
In light of our findings and in the spirit of goodwill, we have removed the remaining charges from the ******** account resulting in a zero balance. This is due in part to the ******** remaining in contact with us during this process and their previous payment history. Included with this response is an attached statement reflecting the zero balance. We appreciate the patronage the ******** have given us and wish them well moving forward.
      Thank you for your time.

      Sincerely,

I had a yearly contract with Weed Man for 2021 only. I called their office at the end of 2021 to cancel after they did the 2021 Lawn treatments. However Weedman claims they never received my call or message to them . I was unhappy with their service and did not want to use them in 2022. So in Feb they left a message saying that they would be out to do my first spring treatment. They called me on my home number in West Chester and I was away in the Poconos so I never got the message that they would be out to treat my lawn. So when I got the bill I preceeded to tell them the contract with them was cancelled in 2021. I left a message with WeedMan when I returned from Poconos that I was no longer interested in their service. In fact they left a message on my home phone April 21 to let me know they would be coming out to do another treatment on my lawn. I was home and called them immediately so that time they did not come. Anyway I feel they are harassing me and keep threatening me to pay $56.00 for the treatment in Feb 11 which I never wanted in the first place. On my caller ID and in my e-mails once a week phone calls and e-mails. Would you be able to help me with this. They are not backing down. I am the customer. I have spoken to several people from the company and no one is listening. April 21, 23, May 2, 3, 5. Calls from them I did call them but they are no help. They want to send the bill to a collection agency. They Said if there are discrepancies to call them. I have called them too too many times. Please if you can help I would appreciate it. Thank you ********************************* ************ ************** They just called me just now. May 16. No message from them. Weed Man ************

We appreciate *****************'s patronage in the past and regret that we couldn't have work to an amicable resolution sooner. Thank you for your time.

Weed Man incorrectly treated our lawn - our address is *** ******** *****, and the application was intended for *** ******** *****. The problem is that they treated our lawn the day after we reseeded our lawn and it killed our lawn. Worse, their response has been terrible. Even after multiple calls and promises to "send a technician" they have not showed up . They have not taken this mistake seriously and done nothing to resolve the issue. After sending photos, they said "Tue, Nov 9, 7:09 PM (3 days ago) Hi *****, Thank you for the photos. We're reviewing and will follow up this week. When was the lawn originally seeded? Thank You and Have an Amazing Day! Weed Man *** * ****** **  Unit * West Chester, PA ***** *******-**** [email protected] Yet, they have not contacted me. If fact, they have never followed up on promises to do something. Another email I sent them stated, "The lawn was reseeded the day before you came. It was seeded by Tomlinson B******** on 10/14, and you put chemicals on our lawn (instead of *** ******** **) on 10/15. We are almost a month after your mistake. Again, I really don't want to be difficult, but we would like to have your plan for repairing your error and killing our lawn by this Friday or we will be filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau and other online platforms. Thank you for your help in finding an appropriate resolution to your error. *****

Weed Man apologizes to *** ***** for any inconvenience this issue may have caused him and for impeding the seeding process that was previously performed on the lawn. Since the filing of this complaint, we have been in contact with *** ***** and have aerated and seeded his lawn to re-do the previous work that was done. We will also offer *** ***** a lime application and to aerate and seed the areas again if needed at no cost in the Spring. Our Technical Manager will be following up this week on the progress of the seed, as well as re-inspecting the areas in the Spring, as additional seed germination will occur with the proper Spring time temperatures in 2022.

This issue is something that we did not intend to happen and we will use it to learn from and improve on our customer service. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

      Sincerely,

On July 30, 2021 I spoke to Raschel from Weedman about weed control and fertilizer services. I asked about pricing and I was informed that the price was $370.50 for a year of service. I was told that the $370.50 was a discounted rate for prepaying for a year of service up front. My first service would begin the following week. I agreed to pay $370.50 for one year of service. I asked to remove the auto-renewal option from my account. I added a reminder to my phone for August 2, 2022 to renew one year of Weedman services. On November 8, 2021, Raschel called to ask me if I wanted to renew my service for March 2022. I informed her that my one year of service does not expire until August 2022. She stated that the year of service was up in November 2021. I explained that I had just paid for one year of service recently so I expected to consider renewal for a second year of service in August 2022. She explained that "one year" really meant August through **************** and I would need to pay more to extend services through 2022. I explained that I thought a year of service meant 12 months of service. She indicated that she was sorry for the miscommunication but would not extend my service through August 2022. I would like the business to honor 12 months of weed control service as expected.

Weed Man takes great pride in providing the highest quality service both on and off the lawns and your feedback is important to us. We have looked into the matter to ensure we are providing service to our standard. Upon listening to the recording of the conversation between our sales agent and ****************************, we are confident our agent was diligent in explaining our program and followed company policy. We did provide a copy of the original recording from 7/30/2021 to ***************** as well. In the conversation it is specifically stated, the program in which she was ordering was for 2021. We did state that we would not renew for 2022 in which ***************** acknowledged and agreed. Aditionally we always provide documentation of the order via email and ***** Attached is a copy of the confirmation letter sent and opened by ***************** on 7/30/2021 at 2:37 PM which specifically states in the email  "Please find your lawn care confirmation letter for the 2021 season". Additionally the confirmation letter attached and opened by ***************** states "The following is a list of all the services you have ordered for 2021." The letter also lists all 6 services ordered, all listed they are taking place in the 2021 season. With all of these variables in mind, we are not sure how ***************** concluded that the service would continue into 2022. We did try to explain this to ***************** as well as provide her with this documentation at the time of the initial compaint on 11/08/2021 in which she declined wanting to see any documentation sent or the recording of the sales call to clear things up. As a locally owned and operated company, our reputation within the community is important to us an we strive to cover all of our basis to prevent any miscommunication. I welcome ***************** to reach out to me at any time at ************ or ************************************** should she have any further questions or concerns but I am confident this should clear things up for everyone. Thanks and have an amazing day!

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The business claimed to be providing services for a year for the fee of $370.50. A year is twelve months long. If the business intended to sell services for 4 months instead of one year, they should have stated that the $370.50 fee was only for 4 months instead of claiming it was the fee for one year. They also could have said services for "this" year but they said "one" year. The business misrepresented the fee for their service by stating that the fee was for one year of service. Potential customers need to know that they intentionally mislead customers by claiming that fees are for "one year" instead of clearly stating that customers are paying prorated fees for the remainder of the current calendar year. The business made no attempts to extend the service for the full 12 month period despite admitting that the time frame was not clearly stated as 4 months compared to 12 months.
