We asked Dixon A.C. & R. to fix our fireplace. They visited our home multiple times in an attempt to fix the fireplace. However, each time they came to the house they sent a different technician. They have also failed to fix the fireplace. We sent them $500 at one point for parts and labor. They are still requesting $1,200 in additional payments even though our fireplace still does not work. We asked for an estimate to help replace the fireplace but no one will call us back. Today we got a letter stating they were sending us to that magistrate to demand payment. However, they never fixed our fireplace. We refuse to pay for something that they did not fix.Business response

I have attached the proposal that **. & **** ******** were sent over a year ago when they requested pricing on new fire place.
We had worked at their home multiples times to try to fix their existing unit, however parts were no longer available through distributors for their model, so we had to go different routes to get the material for theirs but were never able to completely fix due to the fact there were several issues one after another.
When they were notified of the issue with parts, as well as the difficulty, in putting more labor costs into a unit that had several service issues we recommended a new unit. We mentioned to them that we would be willing to cut the cost from the service calls they had outstanding if they went with a new one.

When we had not heard a response we began filing late notices. When we didn’t hear anything from that, we went forward per normal and sent magistrate letters. They were not singled out in anyway. This is common procedure with all customers with overdue bills.
When we never heard back from the customer on the proposal that was mailed to them we assumed they did not want to go any further. I do not recall ever getting a call after asking where the proposal was either.

I am rejecting this response because:
My husband and I never received a quote to fix the broken fireplace. We called multiple times to have someone callus back - including after receiving a letter about the magistrate- and no one called us back. We’ve emailed and called trying to get this
issue resolved and no one will return our calls. The secretary will take our messages, but communication stops there. When we had another
company come look at the fireplace they said that Dixon AC&R incorrectly installed at least one part - so even if we had access to all of the
parts - the fireplace never would have worked.

Dixon AC & R Corporation is pleased to provide pricing for the following project. There have been multiple service issues with the fire place at this property. There are no parts stocked for this existing fire place at your property. Because of this we have been required to find parts through third party vendors which is not ideal. It is highly recommended that you fire place be replaced.

We will remove the existing fire place and insert from property
We will install new fire place quoted above
Responsible for any electrical related to this job
Responsible for all gas line materials and venting reconnections
