I scheduled a colonoscopy in January for the end of March, only to be called 36 hours before my scheduled procedure to cancel it because the GI Dept was "short-staffed". I was scheduled for 10-17-22. I was there 15 minutes prior to scheduled arrival time. One hour 15 minutes passed until a nurse came in to place my IV. I told her about this procedure being scheduled in January and she told me that they have ONE THOUSAND people in queue. After waiting an ADDITIONAL hour I told my husband it was time to go (already waited over 2 hours for this Dr. (S*****) who was seen X4 walking up and down the hall (and never popped his head in to introduce himself or say he was running grossly behind. Waste of time as one would hope he's scrubbing up after walking the hall in his bright pink oxford shirt on 10/17/22). The nurse at the nursing station told my husband we could just leave then as she couldn't say how long he was going to be as he was "very thorough". Keep in mind that NO ONE informed us that he was running behind. I'm thinking either there is a problem with the scheduler not allowing enough time for procedures or the doctor has a blatent disrespect for people's time. I want a meeting with this doctor to discuss time management and respect. We are telling everyone about this unacceptable negative experience. I will NEVER prep for a colonoscopy again due to this. I hope in the future I'm not diagnosed with colon cancer. It is unethical to CONTINUE to take on patients when you clearly CANNOT handle the volume you have. I want to know with 1000 colonoscopies in queue and having been rescheduled since MARCH, what have they done to remedy the situation? This was an UNEXCUSABLE act on part of the whole GI lab. I'm beyond disappointed as a call to Compliance goes unanswered.Business response
