The company misled me and wasted my time and energy, by mailing a letter to my home address earlier this week with false information that I was preselected for an Auto Insurance quote, asking me to collect my currently active auto insurance policy and call their customer service number to review and receive my quote. I took the time and spent the effort of following their directions. I called this afternoon (Saturday, 07/20/2024). The agent on the phone asked me for my consent to release my RMV history and personal information, so I agreed and was put on hold. She then told me that they would not offer me a policy/quote because I had one accident in the past 6 years (about 4 years ago actually) and that they are a low-risk company that does not insure a person in this case!! I asked "why did you send me a letter saying that I was preselected then?" The lady said "well, I'm sorry that you had a poor experience"! I told her what her company did was false and misleading, and it wasted my time. I asked her to stop sending me any letters in the future. I had a very bad experience with this company's dishonesty and I advise customers who look for ********************** against it.Amica Mutual Insurance Company Response

Amica uses non-permitted or authorized third party data to decline insurance. When asked to share the basis of the decline, Amica representatives declined to share the source of information for this decision. Amica malpractices are discriminatory and are not based on transparency. The representatives make decisions arbitrarily and discriminate as they wish.Review from Jason R

My wife and I have exclusively had Amica for auto/home insurance for 23 years (since 2001). My wife's grandfather recommended it for the outstanding customer service and coverage, so both her parents, and us, became insureds with Amica in 2001.I have four kids, and two of them are on the policy - along with my wife and I - and my third child will be getting his license this year. My kids are straight A students and have not had any accidents. My wife and I are excellent drivers. We are pretty good risks, have our 4 vehicles, boat, and home policy with Amica. In the past few years I have been considering adding a couple life insurance policies as well as an umbrella policy to our portfolio, because for the most of our 23 years with Amica I have been reasonably happy with our experience. However, that has completely changed since having to deal with fighting Amica to receive fair market value for our ****** that was declared totaled after being struck by another party who admitted to the police full responsibility for the collision.I have been stonewalled by the ********************** My auto body shop owner (who is a licensed appraiser) said the vehicle should be worth $7k-$8k, my mechanic who exclusively services the car, and resells European cars, placed a value at $8k. I reached out to a third party appraiser my lawyer friend uses, and they evaluated Amica's valuation and estimate, and said at a minimum it is worth at least $900 more than Amica quoted. I have also looked extensively online have found similar vehicles (in year, mileage, and condition) run closer to $9k. I submitted all the aforementioned to Amica, and they have rejected any further consideration and instead settle for half, which leaves me with two options: 1. Accept their paltry offer and switch insurance companies, or 2. engage a lawyer.I have a layer interested in taking the case. But I am also looking into switch all of our business to ****, and have urged my in-laws to do the same.Amica Mutual Insurance Company Response

I've been with Amica for years and have been pretty happy with my coverage for the most part. Recently, I was involved in an accident with a motorist who didn't have insurance, 100% their fault as supported by video. My vehicle was showroom quality wrapped car. The problem is the wrap that is on my car has been discontinued. So now I am told that I am to accept a 2 tone vehicle because the car has depreciated. In this time of increasing cost of coverage for what is a "depreciating a car". It seems hardly fair for a client to burden the cost of properly repairing their car in a no fault accident. Cost are up on everything due to supply and demand issues. I was told that my insurance is to make me whole, which definitely is not the case in this matter. Not only that, if this was the case why not state that up front and deny the claim of the start, instead of delaying progress for 3 weeks. As it stands now my car is still in disarray, a month after the accident. The only thing I want is as Amica says, "to be made whole". Put my vehicle back to the way it was prior to my no fault accident, nothing more, nothing less.Amica Mutual Insurance Company Response

********** have been a customer for for six years or so insuring 4 vehicles and home. No claims, no issues until this past week when my wife had a fender ****** running into a stopped vehicle after it had made a turn and suddenly stopped. The impact speed was 10 mph or so. The car is a 2018 Infinity QX60 (****** miles on it currently and in excellent condition) valued at $23,000.00 with the normal factors included (milage, condition and assessories). The caveat is that the vehicle has a branded title, meaning it had beendesignated a total by an previous insurer. I bought it from a firm that makes the vehicle whole again. Generally, the price is about 15% less than one that has no such title. Since the purchase the car has been as expected with no issues. After this collision I tookl it to a local collision repair facility for repair. I was astonished that the reapir was $16,000 or so. I received a evaluation from Amica that put the value at $17,400. or so. After all the deductions, fees, and other stuff the final amount to be given me is $12,000 and I would need to pay sales tax and license fees again since it was a "total loss" The damage was in the front (hood, fenders, supports, fan, radiator, condenser, my cost around $2,000.00). The appraisal for damage was $16,000 or so. Amica says that the car is worth 25% of it predetermined value. No where is that percent or any percent contained in the purchase of the insurance. Amica uses a table they developed for assessing the fee. It is not written so to me it is false advertising and failing to disclose a material fact in a sales transaction. The are price gouging undervaluing the actual cost to get thew car back.Amica Mutual Insurance Company Response

Amica insured hit my car February 1, 2024. My car finally repaired after having argued with the adjuster to fix catalytic converter, then the O2 sensors. then the tire that was punctured as a result of getting hit from behind. She eventually got feed up with me and never contacted me again. Complained of their ******** page and received a call from another representative. We talked a few times and I felt finally were getting somewhere. She requested earning documentation and I sent it to her April 1,2024. Havent heard from her since. Amica has a fine reputation but the way they handled my situation is c*** Neve get Insurance from Amica and hope you never get hit by an insured customer.Review from John F

My auto rates with Amica have increased about 40% this year. We have been with them about forty years. We live in a rural area and do not commute to work and have clean records. We are very disappointed and will switch even after all these years.Review from Bryan C

Amica took 2 1/2 months to get an $85 revision to the original repair estimate for my car completed. I had taken the car in to an Amica affiliated repair shop in mid-December 2023 on the first available date to get the repair estimate done. Amica didn't finalize an $85 revision to that estimate until late February of 2024. As a result, the original estimate of March for the repair was pushed out into late May. The repair itself consisted of a single body panel above the left front wheel having a moderate sized dent in it. IMO, it seems like very slow service for a customer that had paid 18 years of premiums on the same vehicle without making any prior claims.Amica Mutual Insurance Company Response

After 4 years and no claims, my homeowners policy increased 3x. Explanation is the fire station was over 5 miles away, even though it is less than 5 miles on ****** maps. Frustratingly bad customer support. Glad I never had to make a claim.Amica Mutual Insurance Company Response
