This incident was at a different store ( *******************************************************************************) Could not find correct store upon searching. Cashier ( ***** )was very rude and condescending. He made me feel very inadequate for not knowing where to return a pillow. I bought 4 shorts and he spoke to me in such a rude manner saying " YOU CAN TAKE THE HANGERS OFF" as in it was suchhh an inconvenience for him (the worker) to do so. I said that's fine ill help you, I can do 2 and you can do two, he clearly did not want to do it, im not sure why, it is such a simple thing to do, so I proceeded to take 2 out of 4 hangers of the shorts and with the last one he was waiting for me to do it as well. His demeanor was so condescending and inappropriate. I paid for my items and than proceeded to go to the service desk to process my return, the lady working there was so kind and you could just tell that she was a good person and great worker! I shop at this location in **********,******* often. At least once a week & spend a lot of money there. Today Friday, MAY 31st, 2024will be the last time I ever shop there. From the time I walked in a VERY OBVIOUS,INCREDIBLY MEAN OFF PUTTING WOMAN stared at me the whole time I was at the checkout line. SHE was not a cashier. I have NO IDEA WHAT HER title is & I dont care.I noticed her watching me periodically while I was shopping which was extremely annoying as I was doing nothing WRONG. She had a strange irritated attitude just watching me strangely without even blinking as I was doing my shopping. She looked angry which was just unprofessional!I ignored her but it was obvious she was watching me in particular. I shop there often without incident. I felt uncomfortable as if she was profiling ME. I was leaving spent $130. On the way out the cashier saw I had two cases of soda located on the bottom of my cart. I put the items on the counter at the start of the checkout process at which point the cashier suggested we scan them last. I forgot they were there & so did the cashier. The cashier noticed as I left that we overlooked them so I went back in the store to pay for them. Next,the cashier noticed two items next to my GIANT PURSE that were small and scrunched we didn't see. I was tired from working all day & a bit absent minded,not STEALING. I sincerely FORGOT to pay for the two items so I got my debit card out to pay at which point the HORRIFICALLY ANGRY UNKNOWN EMPLOYEE started pointing & yelling for the whole store to hear that my receipt needed to be checked as if I was stealing merchandise!!! I was just trying to pay for the items. Pure,misunderstanding. She was yelling extremely rudely all while staring at me stone faced. I have NEVER had a person treat me so UNPROFESSIONALLY in a public setting. It was humiliating. This woman should NOT be in customer service if this is her type of demeanor. I was in the store 12/6/23 - the customer before me was greeted kindly and as she was leaving even wished a Merry Christmas. I was next in line and the clerk #*** asked me if I had an insider card to which I commented yes. He said "Are you sure?" to which I then began giving him the telephone no. ( Im of black ethnicity ) . I placed my items for lunch on the counter and he said is that all your going to buy ? I then said which you like me to buy more ? He then asked about rounding up for food bank and I declined. He said "It's only rounding up to the nearest dollar ". I then said no again. What this person does not realize is that I frequent the store and I always round up but was very upset with his attitude. I think it very important that if you have clerks that are non socialized and are awkward serving people of other races it could practice not to place them on the front lines. It's very uncomfortable being serviced by someone who is awkward with other races. By the way to top it all of I certainly wasnt wished a Merry Christmas or greeted in the way of the previous customer. Not very nice ! changes need to be made and "all" customers to have a great customer experience whether "black" or white or "any " nationality for that matter. If your not of white ethnicity I would urge you to go elsewhere the experience that you'll receive at this store is shameful !Ocean State Job Lot Response

I was in the Ocean State Job Lot in ********** ************ on June 4 2023, I fell in there store and was told Corporate would contact me the next day to check on me, it's been 2 days, no one has called, I bruised my hip and knee, when I called the local store they seemed like I was bothering them. I would like something done about this matter because I could have been seriously hurt and they never offered an apology or even called to see if I was OK. I am a frequent customer there and I think some of the employees are very rude and unprofessional!!Review from Elena P.

I bought an out door umbrella which was advertised in the crazy deals section. it was a great deal spend $129.00 for the umbrella and get $129.00 back on a crazy deal card. Great deal right? No not a great deal. I get it -the price was jacked up - they have to make a profit but the problem was that the umbrella was defective. It had a tilt option, press a button the umbrella would tilt and lock into place. It pushed the button to tilt the umbrella and the button popped out spring and all and though maybe it would be able to pop back in....nope. So to my understanding I could return it and wait for a new one to arrive since it was an online order. Got to the store and was told that the product was not available anymore and I was not able to get a replacement. I also understand that I was not going to get my money back... I didn't want that I wanted a working umbrella which I explained to the store manager who said that there was nothing they could do. I asked about any umbrella at this point for a replacement, was told no. I said that this was unfair. So I asked to speak to customer service who told me that I had purchased the crazy deal card not the umbrella! I did not, I replied, I purchased the umbrella and received the card. That is false advertising no where does it say you are purchasing the card alone and they are throwing in the product. Ridiculous all I want is a replacement for what was advertised . I left the store without any resolution and at this point it is just the principle of the transaction that left me disgusted and not happy with ocean state job lot where I spend a good amount of money a year. This was a clear case of the customer is always right.......except when they are right. They agreed the product was faulty, not that that meant anything.. Just greedyOcean State Job Lot Response

We do apologize for the inconvenience that Ms. ********* has experienced with her patio umbrella. We do have a 31 day return policy on all seasonal items. Ms. ********* picked up this umbrella on 5/14/22 and attempted to return/exchange on 6/25/22. Even though it was past the 31 day period, as a exception for her, we would have reordered a new umbrella but unfortunately the item was out of stock. When she purchased the ************. ********* did receive a Crazy Deals Gift Card for the total amount of the item ($129.99) which she had exhausted. The store did request a gift card for the customer for the inconvenience. A gift card of $15 was presented to Ms. *********.Review from Sam G

I am transgender, while shopping at the ****** ** store on **************************** needed to use the restroom there, so I went to the front of the store and asked an associate **** where the restrooms are, associate ****, began to laugh at me and told me that we don't have restrooms for your kind, and chuckled with another associate that she was with, it was such an embarrassing moment, and I am appalled of such treatment, I left the store and contacted my attorney, I then started legal proceedings of harassment against the associate **** and the store.. this should not happen to anyone and associate **** in my opinion should be terminated immediately.Review from STEVEN TWINING

I got a store credit ****** card for my birthday, which is supposed to be treated as cash in the store. Today, 8/22, I went to purchase a couple of crazy deal items, which can be bought with cash or credit card and was turned down by the ****** and the manager because the store changed its policy on store credit, which is the same as cash, and now will not let you use store credit on a crazy deal purchase, This doesn't seem legal to me.
