Purchased a vehicle from the dealership. The owner of the dealership said there was three issues with the vehicle that he would repair. We live in ** and explained we would be leaving to go back in the summer of 2023 but he said the issues would be resolved before then. To date he has only done one of the three repairs and no longer returns phone calls. The details are listed in the attached document. At this point the repairs need to be done quickly or a check given so we can have the repairs done in **.

I write to you regarding the purchase of **** **** F-150 and Frenchtown Auto Sales agreeing to pay the amount of $1,050.00 to be paid in a timely manner for the repair of the trucks transmission agreed on October 29th, 2021. On October 28th, 2021, I, ***********************, bought a **** **** F-150 from Frenchtown. During the sale of the truck that occurred, it was stated that the truck was in good enough condition and had just come from a mechanic, the salesperson also explained the truck came with a 30-day warranty. The salesperson ******************************* did not mention or disclose any deficiencies regarding the trucks transmission and used the fact that it just came from the mechanic with a clean **** of health as a selling point. The next day, October 29th, 2021, I drove the truck and it stopped accelerating and was gushing fluid. I spent an hour self-diagnosing the issue on the side of I-95 and was able to get the truck running, after a few minutes of driving the truck broke down again on the side of I-95 in ********** and I was forced to bring the truck a mechanic.I spoke to Frenchtown and ********************** while at the mechanic, I relayed that the mechanic checked the truck and explained the transmission had failed completely. The mechanic believed it must have been a well-known problem given the state of the transmission and the mechanic stated the lines could not be replaced and in fact the whole transmission needed to be replaced. I called a few mechanics in the area and was quoted a range of $1800 - $2700 to repair the job. I called Frenchtown and spoke with ********************** who verbally agreed that Frenchtown would split the cost of the repair and agreed again via text.I have called Frenchtown and they keep saying they are were mailing the check to me that day but as of January 20th, 2022, I have received no payments, no ***** envelope, no correspondents from Frenchtown regarding the amount owed.

****************** came into our dealership and purchased a **** **** F-150. We were aware the customer was from out of state (hours away) and strongly advised he NOT drive this vehicle back from ************ given the fact it is a 30 year old truck, however he insisted! The actual cost of repair as reported to us by ****************** was $1,300 much lower than the quoted $1,800-$2,700. ****************** was only required to pay $250 of that $1,300 despite the warranty being ***** which would have required him to pay over $600.As required by the ********************* the vehicle did have a new 2 year ************ state inspection. Regarding ********************** argument that we have not sent the check, ****************** moved and we were not informed of this address change until 01/21/22. As a small dealership we did everything required to prepare this vehicle for retail sale.

****************** purchased a **** **** F-150 on October 28, 2021.This vehicle passed a 2 year ************ state inspection as required by the ********************* prior to selling a vehicle. As a small dealership, we uphold our obligations to the state. The transmission is something that is checked at time of inspection. If the transmission was as bad as stated by Mr. ******** mechanic, the fault would fall on the inspection station for passing the vehicle and not Frenchtown Auto Sales.

****************** reached out to us explaining that the vehicle would need a new transmission. We discussed the matter with him and decided to pay for a majority of the ****. Despite the above response of the customer paying $442.75 (an extra $292.75) as to not make Frenchtown pay over the $1,050 we agreed, it is important to note that the warranty was only a THIRTY DAY *****. If we had chosen to have ****************** adhere to this warranty he would have owed $746.38.

Attached is a copy of Mr. ******** drivers license, as seen the address does NOT match to the ******* address ****************** states was on the paperwork. If needed, Frenchtown Auto Sales can provide all of the paperwork signed by ****************** that shows the Great Falls address and not the Fairfax address. As stated in the previous response, we did not receive Mr.******** new address until 01/21/22, which is when ****************** requested we provide him with a tracking number for the check.
The check has been sent to ****************** and this should resolve the matter at hand.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and spoke to the owner who has reiterated and agreed to pay the agreed upon amount of $1050.00 in two payments. If this agreement is upheld (Frenchtown has already mailed the first of two installments) then I do believe the response does satisfy my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint #********. I understand that by choosing to accept the business response that my complaint will be closed as resolved.
