      I switched to Blue Cross January 1st and gave had nothing but problems. I was told signing up that I should have no problems switching over and my meds should continue as with the last ins company. After going through 2 appeals for my cholesterol medication that I had been on for years it was denied. They claimed there were lower cost meds that I could take. The drug they want me to take costs ****** dollars and I have to give myself injections. Where as the pill, Nexletol that I was on cost ******. And Blue Cross would not let my small family pharmacy fill the new one. My cholesterol numbers on the previous drug were in the 160's. Now I have been off my meds for 5 months waiting on the appeal process. My bloodwork came back today at 325. This is totally unacceptable. The kick back Blue Cross gets for these meds is what drives them. Not the health of their patients. The bottom line with them is $$$$$

      I am the first to leave a review. Someone needs to be the first one, but I dislike this company so much that I cannot wait to leave. I need to stay with them until the end of the year. Their Blue Store staff is no help and calling is even worse. They cannot seem to get my name straight. They keep sending me the medical card with different names on it. I know that my name is different or they might thing its weird, but it's my name. I am not sure what part they are having a problem with. I already showed them all kinds of proof, so they can make the correction, but instead of making the correction they keep making things very stressful for me. I filed a grievance with them. The stress is getting overwhelming.

      Blue ***************************** Shield of RI is slightly better than United, but that isn't saying much. I have had to call often for months now due to the ongoing medication shortage, every single time I call I am given different information and a different list of demands as in we need this or that paperwork, sometimes quite a lot of paperwork. It's maddening that the answers always change. When the medication is eventually covered, they don't pass that information on to their pharmacy benefits manager Prime Therapeutics. That means I have to call Blue Cross, the Doctor's ******* and Pharmacist all over again. We have a family plan that costs over $30,000 and their departments can't even communicate. Currently the Account Manager from Blue Cross for our contract with Blue Cross said in writing the medication will be covered until such and such date. Afterwards it was denied again and they asked for a bunch of new time consuming paperwork from the doctor and pharmacist, insisted it wasn't sent (it was, Blue Cross's system has outages currently), and no one from Blue Cross can be reached. If a company like this says they'll do something in writing, then immediately doesn't, their word means nothing. This company runs in a way where it appears different departments do no communicate and therefore by default, they're untrustworthy.
