DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR NUMBER IF CAR SHOPPING. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I called Toyota of Smithfield in the end of November of 2023 to help someone looking for a new vehicle. I asked questions about a model they had in stock, but found an alternative. Since then the dealership has called me over 20 times leaving voicemails up to January 31st ****. The calls come at all times of the day and they all say I need to call them back to have them stop calling me. That is completely unacceptable and thank goodness for call blocking on my phone so at least I don't have to listen to it ring but I do get the tracking data and call logs to be able to back up the harassment detail which will come out later. I get that there is a lot of pressure and I understand businesses need to have policy, however, in this case, this is straight harassment and a customer should not have to call to tell you not to call them after months of no contact and simply asking questions about a car in stock. When I ignore 20 voicemails and calls; after saying I was not interested in the car. At this point I am just going to keep tracking and will update the review and more.Review from Alicia M

I'm not very happy. I needed the film at the bottom of my driver's side door replaced. I told the women over the phone ,she put a note. I arrived sat and *** said the 3rd party vendor does not work on weekends and that Monday they will be there to replace it. I never got a call from *** or ******. I had to pay extra for the toyota care and they can't even replace it. I am not happy and everyone who goes to this dealership does not have a good experience. Now I had to go elsewhere to replace the sticker. Poor business ! If I knew this I would never have purchased a vehicle here! Then on top, they call you for the toyota care. I was due for an oil change. Since the sticker says the mileage on it to get an oil change. It was past the mileage, they said you have to add ***** over sticker mileage. I have never heard of that. They are trying to get you to pay for your oil change but toyota care your suppose to get free ones. I will never ever go back here or purchase another vehicle here! They lost my business and all my relatives business as well. Poor service department and its not getting any betterReview from Joseph N

When I purchased the **** Escape I bought the extended warranty I was told I should bring it to a **** dealer for service I've called and text at least a half dozen times to speak to someone about this issue no calls back I did text **** on August 9th no response back one receptionist told me ****** would call me ****** is the head of service I believe he never called me so Toyota of Smithfield will not honor their extended warranties beware thank you *************************Review from Robert P

Dropped my 2009 Tacoma off on Wednesday for a scheduled oil change, replacing of the oil pan, replacing if the valve cover gasket. I also had a check engine light that they were going to check. A few hours later I got a call that the light was for an exhaust sensor and that I needed a new transmission dipstick and transmission flush. They didnt have the parts so they would order them and get them the next day, the bill would be $2,150.00!!! Needing my truck I said go ahead. No call from them on Thursday, no call on Friday so I called at 1pm, could not connect to service, the recording told me to call back. I called again and chose sales, someone picked up, took my info and said they would give it to service and someone would call me back. 3pm still no callback, I call and again I cant be connected to service, I call back and talk to someone in sales who takes my info and promises someone will call me back in two minutes. 4pm still no call back, I call sales and again was told that they would have someone call, I told her that wasnt good enough and that I needed to talk to someone in service immediately, I was put on hold and someone from service finally picked up the phone, he told me there was a problem replacing the sensor because the exhaust system had been welded, he actually told me Id need an entire exhaust system (most of which was a year old). I told him that after three days I need my car and to forget about the sensor. He said ok and said he would call me back. No callback on Friday. Saturday I dont get a callback and cant reach service, they close at 4pm so I went down there at 3:30 pm I get my truck. I went to the main counter and told the nice woman that I was there to pick up my truck, I explains to her that I havent got one call from service since Wednesday. She went to the back then told me they had a problem and need the master mechanic to look at it, he wouldnt be there till Monday. No call Monday morning, at 1pm I call, nobody answers.Review from Paula F

First of all the "mandatory" GPS/tracking system is optional! They charge $500 fee. Second of all, the "free/included" oil changes & tire rotations are anything but. While signing papers, you will e-sign, just a blank pad you sign your name and the f&i guy will "explain" what you're signing. About a month after your purchase you will receive paperwork from Toyota Financial about your maintenance plan. Turn that paper over and at the top right you'll see the cost for this was $460 for this plan. It will not appear anywhere on your contract or buyer's order that the f&i guy gave to you. Call your lienholder, inquire about it - low and behold, they'll say "oh I'm looking right at the maintenance plan you signed and purchased!" Ask them if it's on the buyer's order or the retail installment contract - it will not be there. They add this price into the selling price of all cars they sell. Any and all cancellable products MUST be broken down on the contract or paid for by you in cash upfront! NOTE:::: you are allowed to cancel this product - contact Toyota financial (number is on the paper you'll get in the mail). You'll need to send them a letter with the **** current mileage, and sign it. They will cancel this product and send a check to your lienholder and that $460 will be applied to the principal on your loan. This will also cause them a chargeback from the lienholder for a canceled product.Review from Kyle T

Honestly, stay as far away from these sneaky scam artists as possible. They will tell you one thing over the phone and completely change the story once they get you in the building. Had them order me a Tacoma SR as they didnt have it in stock at the time. Told them exactly what I wanted, just basic stock Tacoma with a V6 and 4WD. I waited 3 months and then went in and they had ordered it with extra packages I didnt want to **** up the price. They also ordered a 4cyl instead of the V6. I told them thats not what I wanted and they said well I can wait again for another one to come in or take that one. I was going to leave and of course they magically found one very similar to what I wanted that they had in stock. Ran through the paperwork and of course the price changed drastically once I was in the building. I ended up taking the Tacoma, however afterwards I noticed that they snuck over $2000 worth of add ons into the contract that they did not ask me if I wanted or tell me about. They also completely lowballed me on my trade in. The manager sat there and completely lied to my face and told me anything he could to get me to agree to take the truck. Since then, it has been nothing but a horrible experience. They have been rude, they never called me to let me know my plates are in, and theyve harassed me about dropping the truck off to get an extra service done that I didnt want and they snuck into the contract. Going to this dealership was a horrible decision and wish I went anywhere else as I have never had this bad of an experience at any of the other many dealerships I have purchased a vehicle at. Stay far away from these sneaky scam artists.Review from Keven O

Good Evening - I just saw a newscast where a dealership was overcharging customers. I was overcharged at Smithfield Toyota. ***********************, my salesman, told me he could find me a new truck for ***** to ***** dollars. He said it came with a protective paint and undercoating. He found a truck and sent me documentation with the cost of the truck. $37.850. When I went to buy the truck they added an extra $3000 for the special paint and undercoating protection. He had never mentioned this would be an extra cost and it was not in the documentation they sent me prior to purchasing the truck. I had already sold my car, so I did follow through with the purchase. I complained and he said he would work with me to try to make me a happy customer, but nothing was done. I have all the emails and texts. And there was nothing on paper that listed the extra cost for the paint prior to the date when I bought the truck.Review from Darleen M.

They refused to repair my front seat even though the car is under warranty and it is a certified pre-owned vehicle. They told me I had to go back to where I purchased the car. NOT TRUE! They tried to sell me another car instead even though I bought this car just 6 months ago. It appeared to me that the service advisor has something going on with the salesman on the floor because he, the service advisor, told me he sold 7-9 cars that year. I asked if he was on commission but he said no. Interesting! When I tried to contact the service manager about why they wouldnt repair my seat, I never got a return phone call. I will NEVER go there again!Review from Al001

My elderly father purchased a used RAV4 at this dealership and was not told that it only came with one key and no manual until AFTER he bought it. When he went back they ignored him even though he requested to speak with a manager. He sat there for over two hours waiting. They also tried to charge him for something that should have come with the vehicle. The level of disrespect they showed my dad is unacceptable and I would not buy a vehicle there if they were selling it for a dollar. I was told by the sales rep that with the current vehicle market that the car came with a lot and they didn't have to give him $600 off of his deal but they did it in order to make his deal work, which is not unusual in the negotiation process of buying a car. Just because there is a chip shortage and you have customers over a barrel doesn't mean you should rake someone over the coals and disrespect them because you THINK you hold all of the cards. I e-mailed corporate and will tell everyone I know about this horrible experience. I hope the $400 was worth all of the negative feedback I will be sharing with anyone who will listen. It's dealerships like yours that make people want to buy cars online to avoid all of this. Pretty soon the buying process will all be online and there will be no salesperson there to mislead and misguide an elderly buyer. If I could give you less then one star I would because you don't even deserve that.
