My wife and I purchased a 2018 ****** camry xle from lexus of warwick on sept 25th 2023 for the agreed upon price of nearly 25 thousand dollars. the dealership did not have the title for this vehicle. here we are 52 days into this problem. they gave us temp plates for 30 days so we would be with out a vehicle seeing as we traded our other ****** in to them and was since sold. on the initial 30 day plate on or around 20 days intp it i called the dealership and had to leave a message i wanted to know why our vehicle was not registered. I left 6 messages over the course of the next 10 days with no return call. frustrated i called a seventh time and happened to get my sales girl, i explain whats going on where is my registration she says let me call you back in 15 minutes, i have not heard back. I finally get her again and say our temp plate is now expired 3 days, we need a vehicle. she explaines there is a problem with the title we dont have it, i ask why and am told that the woman whom traded the vehicle in signed it in the wrong spot. she sets up a loaner vehicle for my wife while it should be titled any day. My wife gets in touch with the finance woman who says that the woman who was trading the car in was at first going to another dealership but changed her mind at the last minute and that the other dealership shredded the title and that lexus of warwick had no title from the beginning and should HAVE NEVER SOLD THE *** TO US.....the loaner car is expired, my wife is still driving it and we have no car that i have 10 thousand invested into, made 2 payments on and pay insurance on but do not possess. communication is tell us what we want to hear and maybe we will go away. too many different stories from them....give us our money back along with fees and cost associated with this debacle. I have a call into the attorney generals office and am currently awaiting guidance on this. Thank YouBusiness response

This purchase seems to be the perfect storm. The elderly guest who traded in the vehicle stated she had the title, and we were waiting for her to simply bring it in. We then sold the car in question to ******************, knowing we had access to the title. The guest that traded the car then notified us that the title was shredded by accident. We had her come in and sign a duplicate title application. The ********************* rejected the application after many days, and the reason was told that the State required a lien release from ************ the previous lien holder. We contacted *********** immediately and were told they would mail us a release and it will take 7 business days, as an electronic correspondence was not acceptable to the State. After receiving the lien release, we then resubmitted the duplicate title application and have been patiently waiting for the State to issue the duplicate. We put ****************** into a rental car as soon as the temporary plate was expired at no expense to him. We received the title in todays mail (11/17) and will be getting the signature of ****************** and the previous owner and then registering the vehicle. We will also be reimbursing ****************** for his car payment that he has been making without a vehicle as a sign of goodwill. He will receive the check when his registration is complete (ETA - early next week).Customer response
