Anne the Plumber came to my home on Monday, April 25th, 2022 to repair a shower faucet. The Invoice number is #7302. When I spoke to them on the phone they said they had very competitive pricing. They proceeded to actually fix the shower faucet before evaluating the job and giving me a detailed estimate so I could decide to authorize the work or decline it. AFTER the work was done, the plumber called the company and described the work that was done and he got a price of $553.12 It was at that time that he first told me the price and had me do 2 electronic signatures. I was shocked at the price, but signed 2 times and paid them with a check. On my receipt, I noted that the first signature was an AUTHORIZATION PROCEED with the work and it was their obligation to tell me the price and give me the option to decline BEFORE the work was done. They did not do this until the job was completed as I have stated. The second signature was an ACCEPTANCE of WORK PERFORMED. This is a very deceptive practice and they did not adhere to their own stated policy regarding the signatures. Afterwards, I got a quote for the exact same work from another plumber in Woonsocket and it came out to $185. I made numerous calls and texts to complain about the price being very non-competitive and alerted them to the fact that I was asked to give both signatures and was told the price AFTER the work was completed. They declined any refund and ignored the fact that they did not adhere to their policy regarding the quote and authorization. I'm sure they can see that both signature arrive electronically within a minute of each other just before the plumber was leaving for the next job. I would like them to either refund $350 (matching the other quote approx.) or come and remove the valve cartridge they replaced and give me a full refund.
