The Original date of business transaction was when after I paid the Landing $1500.00 for a party venue for 300 people on Oct.3,2020. This took place End-of Jan-beginning of Feb ,2020, almost exactly 1 month before State Shutdown of all businesses due to the PANDEMIC. Formal cancellation of my event date was in Sept,2020.. State -wide Closure was still in effect. Owner J**** gave me an open date for rescheduling once Pandemic was over. Into 2021 two monthsinto the new year, I re-established communication and said my original celebration is totally not going to happen with travel restrictions and covid virus and death of friends. So it was then at that time Mr. J**** offered me 1/2 of my deposit ($750.00)back and end the contract. I said YES ,; He indicated he had to confer with his son and would get back to me. I didn't hear from him for a few months, then he called and reaffirmed our repayment plan, even though his son wasn't on board with the idea. So in Aug it was decided that he would mail me a check in September around the 11 or 12 of the month. Since then, my telephone # has been blocked and I have not heard from Mr. J****. I would like him to hold up his end of our money agreement or explain why did he lead a senior citizen living on a fixed income , counting on promised partial refund.

      Business response

      12/13/2021

Business Response /* (1000, 19, 2021/12/13) */ We apologize for the delayed response. Unfortunately we apologize to Ms ***** that we are going through all of this. Pre COVID, Ms. ***** Hall booked an event with us in which she was quoted $3000. She then paid the 50% deposit of $1500 in order to secure her date. Per the contract (which is attached), that 50% deposit is nonrefundable. Ms ***** decided to cancelled the event and requested a refund. A refund that I couldn't quite provide to her due to the terms of the contract she signed. My father, Rodney J****, discussed with her that with good faith, he'd give her back $750 of the $1500. All that was requested of her was a need for time. Again, I apologize for the delayed response. If there's anything else we can do in response to this complaint, please don't hesitate to let me know. Best Regards, Rodrick J****, CEO The Landing Event Center Consumer Response /* (3000, 21, 2021/12/14) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Dear Mr. J****, While I can appreciate the financial situation during these trying times, i thought I had reached an amblicable resolution (Sept,2021) to this situation with your father. It was 1-2 weeks before the COVID mandates were given by our state government I gave to you a good faith deposit of $1500. I did not pursue refund until at such time I realized the original number of guests I booked could not be handled by your establishment anytime soon according to DHEC and CDC guidelines so 1 year later I inquired about some sort of refund. (I did not indicate a specific amount, your nice personable father did). I had thought your father and I had come to a reasonable compromise and that he would be true to his word as a man of honor and valor that I preceived him to be. Im still of the mind to give you more reasonable time to resolve this issue. Two years is but a couple of months away. Sincerely, ***** ******
