This was part of a new home build contract and we were obligated to use him for a fence installation. I had a 2 minute meeting with him after which he drove off despite requesting that he wait to meet with us both. I was told that he can “do any fence.” He was told our preferences in terms of type of fence and exact area to be fenced. We requested, multiple times, for an itemized bill prior to starting the job. This was never provided and random amounts were told us in terms of how much the job would ultimately cost. Again, the business owner never met with us in person, this was all conveyed via text. The job was delayed multiple times and took 2 entire days to complete with one worker. Consideration was not taken into account by the installer as to the grading of the land and what adjustments needed to be made to allow for even installation. This has resulted in multiple large gaps under the fence. Additionally, any blemishes made on the coating of the fence was sloppily covered by paint resulting in a not smooth finish and spray paint stains all over the grass. We asked the owner to do the job properly and to replace what needed to be replaced. His response was simply to be defensive and make unprofessional remarks such as- you can take the money you owe and shove it up your ass. Many hours later he said he would return and replace oversprayed fence gates if we paid the balance. Our response was that there would be no payment as the job was not completed as promised. The owner is now holding our gate keys hostage. Several things wrong with our experience but without an itemized bill prior to the job, we are not contractually obligated to any payment as he never outlined expectations for the job. We are simply forced to deal with the lazy job performed because it was the easiest way for him to get the job done. Now pieces of property that we are entitled to are being withheld giving him access to private property without permission.

In reference to this claim, I was contracted by Mark S**** and Parker S**** on behalf of Hunter Quinn homes to construct a 6 foot wooden privacy fence upon purchasing the home. Our new client ****** instructed us that he would like us to install an aluminum fence instead, and I warned him that there would be additional cost to do so to bring the fence out to the property line and also Brush needed to be cleared to be able to install the fence. I told him that it would be additional cost to do so which ended up being $900 after installing the fence and gates. There were a few blemishes that my crew touched up on the gates with paint and rain came through and caused the paint to bubble. I told the homeowner we would  replace the gates, but he would have to work with us on the fencing running along the grade of the ground to avoid gaps for small dogs to get underneath the fence and not being level due to the grade of the ground. I explained to him that the grading is an issue that could be addressed for additional cost.
He did not want to pay for the additional materials needed or the brush clearing to install the fence. I locked the gates shut so the concrete could cure and not be disturbed. I told him I would bring the keys back but he told me to stay off the property and I have done so.
I was paid in full by Mark S**** before the job started and any other changes were requested.
