Maymont homes is a scam, they partner with Simple Bills to raise the utilities - you are forced to use them we do not need them. My gas was a flat rate of 100.00 month they forced simple bills gas partner which is now trippled! No one answer their phones! I have filed a complaint with the State Attorney General Office.Maymont Homes

As a landlord expect their business ethics to be questionable. The house was in decent shape and they were willing to replace the carpet in the whole upstairs due to dogs living and peeing on it under the previous lease. The problem was they would not do this until we had the lease on the house (after our move-in date). Most maintenance requests were handled effectively and in a timely manner. At move in, take as many pictures as possible of any damages and provide them via email to anyone in the company you can. Keep these emails as proof at move-out. They may not accept photos that were taken at move-in unless they were also provided via email at move-in. The move-in checklist does not provide enough proof that damages were existing at move-in. We were still charged at move-out for items that we stated on the move-in checklist. When you are provided your move-out damages list, you get one email to negotiate. They did not accept more than one round of corrections - even when photographic proof was provided. They misunderstood the comments we provided in our email but were not willing to listen past our initial email. We did not get the opportunity to clarify after our first email. Expect to be provided a "service" called simple bills that will charge you (at time of writing) $10.95 every month for the privilege of paying your bills in one place. After move-out, this service continued for 3 months as delayed bills were received. My final Simple Bill was 1/3 service fee and 2/3 sewer bill. Additionally, this final sewer bill was issued prior to the previous Simple Bill. It could have been included in the previous billing cycle, but was pushed to the next to get one more service fee out of us.Maymont Homes

Maymont Homes has been completely unresponsive to me now that my lease is ended and they are no longer getting any money from me. I moved out March 1, paid the exorbitant lease breakage fee and left the house in excellent move-in condition as required (which is an unreasonable requirement of a tenant). I received a partial refund of my security deposit, but sent an email disputing some of the charges with back-up documentation on March 21. I waited a month before calling Collections to ask about a response, but since no one in Collections is allowed to speak to former tenants about security deposits, etc., they said they would check with someone in SODAS and have them call me. That was over a week ago, and still no response. I simply would never suggest to anyone to rent from Maymont Homes. And spare me the AI-generated response - I'm not interested in anything other than a response to my email addressing the reasons why I am owed additional funds from my security deposit.Maymont Homes

They say a home is available, you complete application, pay the $120 fee for two people to apply, then once you’re approved tell you it’s rented. No other homes available in area and fee isn’t refundable. Yet you can still go on their site and apply for that home. Remove the home if it’s rented! Total scam!Maymont Homes

Hi Anthony,
Thank you for your feedback — we’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this situation must have been. We never want any of our applicants to feel misled or disappointed.
Our listings are updated frequently, but due to high demand and fast-moving applications, there can sometimes be a delay between when a home is rented and when it's reflected on the website. That said, your concerns are valid, and we are actively working to improve our systems to prevent situations like this.
While application fees are non-refundable — as they cover the cost of processing and screening — we’d love the opportunity to speak with you directly to see how we can help or possibly explore other available options.

Get rid of Simple Bills. Simple Bills is a rip off to all the tentants. There was nothing wrong with how it was before simple bill. Stop going up every year on rent when you don't like fixing ****. I had a roof leak a couple of times and no one has bothered to check my attic for mold. Bring back 12 month lease quit forcing people to sign a 18 month or 16 month whichever it is lease. I wouldn't even give them a star but since I have too.Maymont Homes

I am writing this review to warn others about Maymont Homes, BSFR Property Management, and their billing partner, SimpleBills. My experience has been an ongoing nightmare. About a month ago, Maymont Homes falsely claimed they filed an eviction against me and charged a $350 fee. I contacted the Horry County Magistrate's Office and confirmed no eviction was ever filed. When I confronted them, they claimed the charge was for SimpleBills—a third-party utility billing service they force tenants to use. I had a question about the charges, but due to a language barrier with their outsourced representatives, I held off payment until I could understand the bill. From day one, I’ve dealt with stress. I was immediately threatened with an HOA fine for parking incorrectly, even though everyone in the neighborhood parked the same way. I was never given a copy of HOA rules, even after repeated requests. For the past 3 months, I have not lived in the property for the sake of my sanity. The stress and anxiety this company has caused me led to me being placed on anxiety medication. I’ve made multiple requests to either break my lease or transfer to another property within their system—none have been honored. I'm consistently told I’ll receive a call back, but I never do. You cannot reach a property manager directly. Maymont Homes, also operating as Corex Property Management, is not licensed with the South Carolina Real Estate Commission to handle real estate transactions in the state. I’ve filed a complaint with the Commission. This company is unprofessional, unresponsive, and shows no concern for tenant well-being. If I had known what I was getting into, I would have never signed a lease. Run far away.Maymont Homes

I had been renting with Divvy since November 2024 until the transition to Maymont this month. Received wonderful welcome emails until a 3 day notice taped to my door for April rent (today is April 15). Currently only owe April rent as I had some issues earlier this month. Divvy’s policy was much different regarding late rent and I confirmed with divvy that they do not start eviction proceedings until 30 days past due (at least 2 months owed). Spoke with Maymont collections department who basically refused to even allow me to speak to evictions specialist and pretty much said “good luck trying to get in touch with her.” Tried to explain the situation, although I am fully aware of consequences of rent being late we are still in the same month and I was also under the impression that Divvy’s policy still applied. Today is 15th, I will be making full payment on 4/23 and I am being told a case will be filed on Monday 4/21 and I will still be responsible for $600 in court fees. I understand it’s a business but I’m only asking for 3 extra days to avoid a filing due to my misunderstanding and misconception due to the Divvy to Maymont transition. They’re unwilling to do even allow for that or even allow me to speak to anyone that could possibly help. So very disappointed.Maymont Homes
