My experience with Precision Garage Door Services was extremely frustrating, and I believe they are actively profiting from the recent hurricane and the unfortunate circumstances it caused. I called them to address a very specific issue: a broken chain pulley, which occurred after manually operating the door during the power outage caused by the storm. I explained this clearly to the scheduler, expecting them to send someone to fix exactly what I requested. When the technician arrived, instead of addressing the pulley as I asked, they performed an "inspection" and then pushed for a completely unnecessary $1,800 rebuild of the entire garage door system—springs, tracks, wheels, and all. My garage door is 10 years old, and while it might be slightly out of balance, I can open and close it manually with one finger. It does not need a total overhaul. Despite me telling them exactly what was broken and what needed fixing, they refused to replace the pulley and only gave me a sales pitch for their overpriced rebuild. To add insult to injury, they charged me $90 just to come out and do this so-called inspection, despite my explicit request to simply replace the pulley. This pulley issue is a common problem that happens when a garage door is operated manually during a power outage, especially after a storm. Instead of understanding this and providing an honest service, I firmly believe they saw an opportunity to profit off the natural disaster, upselling unnecessary work to take advantage of homeowners like me who are already dealing with the aftermath of a hurricane. It’s shocking and infuriating that a company would use a situation like this to try and price gouge customers who are already vulnerable. I urge others to think twice before using Precision Garage Door Services. They are more interested in maximizing their profit than providing a straightforward, necessary repair.
