    I went to the Waccamaw Center for mental health on August 9, 2023 for the sole purpose of needing a new provider to prescribe Vyvanse; a medication I have been taking for over 10 years to help with attention and focus and potentially for another prescription that I wouldnt need for 2 more months. ( I had just moved to SC from MD and before I left my Dr prescribed both medications for 90 days to give me time to find a new provider, however I found out when I filled the Vyvanse in SC they would not fill for 90 day supply so I was only able to get a 30 day supply)Before I went to Waccamaw Center for Mental Health I called and inquired about what I needed and they told me to come in for an intake to start the process. ****** went on August 9 I filled out the paper work and was taken by by to talk with someone, go over medical history and what I was there for. I then had to go back to reception area and wait to talk to someone else again to review same info and both times I told them specifically I needed a provider to continue prescribing Vyvanse which I have been taking for over 10 years. I had another appt for assessment for August 15 to talk with therapist and again go over medications I was on, why I was there. before finally going back again on August 17 to talk with the so called doctor who was a complete joke. I was taken back to a room with a computer to talk with a Doctor in *******. As if I thought it couldnt get worse he talked to my for less than 2 min. He asked why I was there. I told him the meds I was taking and said he doesnt prescribe that class of drugs and he would only prescribe something *** never heard and that was the end of my appt.I was so disgusted by his unprofessionalism and condescending way he spoke to me I left and never went back!! He never once asked me any questions which led to my diagnoses or any health or medical history. Fortunately I was able to find a real doctor that I have been seeing since.In about October I started getting bills from Waccamaw totaling $1,019.00. I called for weeks leaving msgs and got the run around and finally talked to ***** the director who actually sounded like he was going to look into but has gone silent as well. I am not paying $1,019.00 for a service that i DID NOT receive!!Please help!

    My son has been seeing Waccamaw Mental Health for a year and a half, so this review is born of many months of experience with them. I cannot stress enough how completely inept this organization is. I'll address each aspect. Reception: attitude. Attitude from the get go. I feel like I'm a burden for simply being there. One person in particular is actively unhelpful. Case manager/therapist: absolutely useless. Playing Go Fish with my son? His is that helpful? "To see if he's following directions"? No helpful information or life skills to manage his behaviors, and as a young child, this is what we need. No coping skills taught to **, his parents either. It's a complete waste of time. I've been told "we have to lay eyes on him in order to continue his medication", and well that's all they do. Lay eyes on him. The actual Dr: the absolute worst experience of my life, no exaggerating, this man will not refill our medications in a timely manner, more than half the time. I have to spend so much time calling the pharmacy, ask if it's there, call the case manager to request refills. Wait days and days only to have them continually NOT do it! I w currently waited 5 business days for a refill request. *************** cancelled my appointment and he didn't do his job of refilling our son's medicine, and this happens so often that 6 months ago I had to threaten to get an attorney involved for medical malpractice! I'm not joking that getting the bare minimum of care is a gargantuan effort, and they continually drop the ball. Why is it ok for the Dr to not do his job over and over and still have a job? If I dud that, I would get fired. If I had any choice to go somewhere else, I would. They're the only game in town. I know you get more flies with sugar than vinegar so I was nice, patient, humble, gracious, grateful and compromised for many months despite them doing this to me, causing my son to be without medication, thus he almost got suspended from school, but they DON'T CARE!
