Around October 2023, I pulled up to the Mitsubishi dealership in Goose Creek, SC. In my 2003 Mercedes 230. While looking at cars I was approached by a salesman by the name of Caleb. He asked me what car I was taking home. My 1st thought was, yea right. I had just filed bankruptcy and knew I couldn't afford a car payment right then. He still allowed me to test drive a 2018 navy blue Audi A6 and a red Audi A6. I told Caleb I like the blue one the best. He said for me to come inside for a minute and let's see what he could do for me. Caleb went in with his financial manager then came back to tell me my credit wasn't good enough. Asked me if I could find a co-signer. I called my mom, Sherry Knight, to tell her about the car and ask if she could co-sign. She said there was no way because she co-signed for my baby brother a few years back and that was still on her credit. Then we hung up. Caleb told me that we would just try adding her to see if it would work out. Maybe it would reduce my payment to under $500.00 a month. Caleb told me that my mom was able to co-sign and the payment would be $540.00 a month with my car and $700.00 cash. Caleb also said he would use some of the $700.00 to insure the car for the 1st month. I was amazed that it was possible for me to drive that car home. Caleb said before I left, " if anyone asks, your mom drove the car off the lot". I got no paperwork nor did I have to sign anything. There was no paperwork left in the car. I went back up there the next day to clean out the Mercedes but it was gone. I had an Apple watch and some jewelry in the car that I wanted back. When i received the monthly bill it was 869.00 a month, not the 540.00 Caleb said it would be. Through this, my mom's credit has dropped 100 points causing her insurance to go up, her license was suspended for not having insurance on the car. She had to pay 440.00 for her to be able to drive again.
