I had a termite bond on my house with this business (and the previous owner started the bond when my house was built). We had a termite issue in 2018 and they responded. We had another issue in 2020 and they sprayed again. When our bond renewal was due in June/July 2022, my wife reached out to them via phone and email (5+ time--documented) asking to schedule the renewal and to receive the renewal invoice. E***'s never responded and we did not receive any communication from them. Since then, I have reached out an additional 5+ times and have always been told that someone would call me back. No one ever has. Today, I received the first communication in over 2 years stating that they cannot renew my bond. Since we reached out to them while we were under bond (and they state that they cannot renew based on factors that we're in place when the bond was renewed in the past--for which (based on the previous renewals) set a precedent and an expectation that we would continue to be under bond. I am requesting that a review of their business practices be put in-place. Also, given the precedent that E***'s set by renewing our bond in the past, they are liable for any issues that may have occurred between the first time we communicated to them to today. I'd be happy to discuss more. Please email me and let me know how to proceed. I also am asking E***'s to pay for a new bond (from another company) to be executed so that I can ensure that my house is under bond and inspected for termites and pests. Further, I would like a refund for any and all previous services this company provided given their lack of proper business practices and the fact that the problem has persisted.

      Business response

      07/31/2024

My response to the claim against me from ********** at 106 Cape Street, Charleston is that he was under bond with us. But on 5/24/2021 our technician Charlie A******* noted on the termite renewal that he performed was that there was spray foam insulation throughout crawl space and wood to ground contact. The customer was left a copy of the renewal stating that, then on 6/23/22 our technician Ron T******* went out to perform the termite renewal inspection and he also noted that there was a FOAM TYPE INSULATION under home and the Customer was left a copy of that as well.  I have attached a copy of his bond and it clearly states that violations of standard codes that styrofoam sheeting or similar material which extend below grade level and wood to ground contact which would void the contract / bond.  The foam insulation inhibits in any way of seeing if there is any kind of activity underneath at the subfloor, and also we cant get a actual moisture reading with it in place as well. That is why a letter was mailed and emailed to the **********s.  As far as them calling in, they did but due to The  **********s account being in a void status, the new ladies in office had no access to his file, so they had no way to explain anything to the **********s. This is all in writing and I'm sorry that the **********s are upset, but my company has to abide by the rules that are set in place.

      Thanks

      Hugh G. E*** Jr.
