I have been under the care of a Chiropractor on and off for the past 25 years. I have new insurance so I searched for a provider in my area who accepts my insurance. I found Darrah Family and made an appointment. My first appointment was typical; I had some xrays, then the doctor said he saw issues and could/would help me. He was going to consult with my insurance and he would go over "pricing" at my next visit. On my next visit, he said he would see for the year about 36 times and my payment would be $1400. With co-pays, I found that to be ok. He said I could pay all of it or finance at 0% for 12 months. I opted for the 12 months. He never once said it would be put on a credit card. he simply said they would check my credit. That was the first issue. It was deceptive. He also said I could cancel at any time and get a refund. I have been to maybe 10 to 15 chiropractors and never did I pay up front for an entire year. I thought it odd and bizarre, but I was willing to give him a shot as my back was in terrible shape. He also mentioned he would set me up with some exercises at home which I thought was great. . I then got adjusted and left . On my 3rd appointment, 4 to 5 days after I paid in advance for an entire year, an employee of the clinic went over a home kit. I had no idea up until that point that I was getting a home kit that included a book, vitamins and equipment. We never discussed the book or vitamins whatsoever. I never asked for a book or vitamins. I take a multi-vitamin already, so it's not needed and a book, well that's just bizarre. I did not go to a chiropractor for a book or for vitamins, nor was this explained in any sort of detail until well after I paid for a year and opened up a new credit card. This entire process was simply bizarre and absolutely unlike any experience I ever had with a medical provider or chiropractor. I can go on and on with some more "oddities" about the experience there, but I'd rather just pout it behind me.Business response

We are sorry That *** finds our office procedures as "odd" and would file a complaint b/c they are not what he was "used to" at other chiropractors offices.. However, I do not think it is fair to have a complaint publicly posted against us for our procedures being different than what he is used to... As far as him feeling like he was mislead on charging his care over 12 months interest free, He is a banker, so doing a credit check and having him fill out a CARE CREDIT application to do this is not a surprise or misleading. He did ask for a refund after a while as he said was not working out. We obliged and refunded him for anything he paid up front for his care, which was only for 4 months not 1 year as he stated. He was upset b/c we would not refund the $133 for supplements he had already started taking..Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
The main issue is that the I never mentioned I wanted vitamins or a book or even home equipment, yet you charged for just those items. I paid in advance for a home kit, but had no clue I was buying these items. Not once during my first 2 visits was it ever mentioned that I'd be buying these items or I would have stopped the process then and there. Instead, I was charged for these items, then on the 3rd visit, I was given a take home kit containing these items. On the 4th visit, the home kit items were finally explained to me well after the purchase was made. This is incredibly unfair and deceptive.
At this point, I will file a compliant with the Attorney General and I'll let them investigate. There is no possible way I am the only person who paid for a kit only to find out later it contained items I did not ask for or even know about.
Why did you not state on the 2nd visit (when we discussed the finances of it) that the kit contained vitamins, a cleanse and a book?
Once again, I will let the state AG decode what's fair, legal and just.
Regards,
