On or about May to November 2023, owner Dewell, DAR Construction was hired to renovate my rental property of *** ******* Avenue Greenville, SC 29605. Dewell was provided a word document via email of the initial things I want to have done to upgrade the home promising to have the job done within 1 months’ time in which he started on the last week of April 2022, the job was not finished until the last week in November 2022, with a lot of phone calling and me traveling from VA to SC to ensure that he was working on my house. It was a painful process to get him to work. Dewell texted me stating he would do the job for $11,000 and then he and I made a verbal agreement that he would make an additional bathroom in one of the bedroom making it a master suite for an additional $6,000 bringing the total to $17,000. Weekly I was receiving text asking for $5,000 until he reached the agreed upon amount and exceeded it by $3,000 I did not question it and sent him the funds he asked for thinking my house was almost. Dewell also received a material allowance from me in the amount of $25,000 to date I have not received any receipts- showing me he purchased material, making the total $45,000. His work performed consisted of plumbing, electrical, installing floors, cabinets, lights, ceiling fans, painting, installing new toilets (I had to purchase one myself because he put an old back in the home that has been sitting outside for months). Replaced a hot water heater and did not wire it properly. See attached for full complaint
