Starting in April of 2022, we hired Carolina Care and Repair LLC to do a remodel project for our living room, bathroom and upstairs loft. During this project, they sent a plumber to do all the plumbing remodel and tile removal for shower installation. Dates, times of arrival, and all other communication with the plumber was done between Carolina Care and Repair and this plumber. His company kept us updated of the plumber’s progress as the days went on. On May 3rd, 2022, the owner sent a text message to the complainant the plumber was to only receive $1000.00 as his work was incomplete and that he could receive the rest of his payment to total $1500.00 when he finishes his work. On May 26th, 2022, all projects were “completed” and payment was made to Carolina Care and Repair LLC in the form of a check in the amount of $4025.00. In total, the cost of the remodel included $1673.02 for supplies, $1400.00 for plumber work on bathroom, $4025.00 for all of projects included totaling $7,098.02. Water damage was noticed starting in December. On December 30th, a picture was sent to my phone about water leaking into the garage. The owner stated they will send guys out to assess and start the repairs. Upon later inspection from his employees, they found the shower pan was damage and had to order a new one that caused about 3 weeks in delays. Once the shower pan was installed, the owner called and asked if we had more tile because he did not have enough to cover the bathroom floor. I told him that he would have to get more tile. The owner sent me a text message stating that he cannot keep eating the cost of the repairs as the plumber has not paid him the money, he owes for the damage he caused representing him. He then asked if we could cover the cost and then he would finish our bathroom. The bathroom is currently completed unfinished, bare concrete on the ground, spackle, mud, cracks and gaps in wall and floor, and no sink or toilet.Business response

Starting in April of 2022, CCR began a remodel project for the living room, bathroom and upstairs loft of the ******* family home. A review for the company was left by the plaintiff stating “Paul did an excellent job with this project that we needed done. Despite unforeseen additional expenses, communication and quality of work could not have been better. Carolina Care and Repair really take the time to figure out your needs and make sure the quality matches what you are looking for. They really treat the job as if its own home and make sure it’s done right even with the smallest details you may overlook. Highly recommend if looking for renovations, touch ups, or repairs! Thanks again Paul. Looking forward to working with you again. Pictures attached for what they accomplished! “. It should be noted that any other issues that may had arisen before, during or after the project’s completion were completely and timely dealt with and the owners were completely satisfied.
However, in reference to the complaint, during the bathroom remodel a referral was made for a plumber to do necessary work, in no way were the homeowners obligated to use this plumber. Carolina Care & Repair LLC (per usual) helped communicate with the outside party to assure needs were being met for our client. Mr. ******* was sent the plumbers contact information via text message, he & his wife met with said plumber and payment was made directly to the plumber by homeowner for work completed totaling $1500. When CCR received notice that there was water damage the owner went a few times to access and correct damages in attempt to correct any mistakes possibly occurring from labor performed. A second plumbing company was asked to come access damage as well to verify cause of fault. Plumbing was the problem that caused the underlying issues however the plumber that completed this work refused to make right on the issues. CCR does not claim fault in the damages done by the plumber referred, that the homeowner paid directly, and had option to decline. Out of good faith, reputation and ethical value CCR paid the new plumbing company to fix the drainage issue, paid for the new shower pan insert as the first was damaged due to water damage which totaled approximately $1000. CCR also removed flooring, reinstalled shower inserts free of charge as well as offered to complete all finishing work for free once homeowner got tile inserted in attempt to rectify the situation. We have since been in contact again with the referenced homeowner in regards to getting project completed and are hoping to get it done in the coming days. We ask the complaint be considered null as the issue at hand was not at the fault of Carolina Care & Repairs labor performed and we are continuing to work with the homeowner to resolve the matter.
