I wanted to ship a Segway to California for repair. The Ups Store representative offered overnight air and I accepted if available. The package was put in a holding bin in West Columbia at a UPS hub after it was picked up at the UPS Store in Irmo Sc. It took me 2 days to track it down and after speaking with UPS Haz-Mat department I was told that I should have never been offered overnight air service and in the manufacturers box it could not even been shipped UPS Ground because of the Haz- Mat Placards in place. UPS Haz-Mat told me that this shipment should have been rejected by the UPS Store. I had to go to West Columbia and retrieve my package and when I spoke with the GM about this at the UPS Store I was told she would have to consult the store owner about a refund and tried to justify the stores actions. UPS Haz- Mat also said the reason Segway can ship in the box I used is because they have an account with UPS allowing them to ship ground only. If the people at the UPS Store were properly trained they would have known this. I have the package back in my possession as it never left Columbia South Carolina. I should clearly be entitled to a full refund.Business response
