In April 2022, Homeowners Kate and **** **** hired ******* *****, owner of S&S Lawn Care to complete several projects in their yard including removing old sod, installing 8,100 square feet of sod, redoing flower beds, edging and applying fertilizer. Homeowners were quoted $15,450 by *****. After the quote was provided, additional payment was requested by *****. Total payments made to ***** came to $17,450. *****'s work was performed in an unworkmanlike and unsatisfactory manner, leading to new and different problems in Homeowner's yard than those they began with. These problems include a leaky/broken pipe, many holes in the lawn and incomplete/sparse sections in the lawn by the homeowner's driveway. There are at least 10 areas where Homeowner cannot mow the yard with his John Deere because of improper grading, unevenness, humps and/or holes in the lawn. Homeowners' lawn is in disarray and they have to hire a new landscaper to correct and mitigate the problems caused by *****. A new landscaper quoted $13,000 to repair the damage caused by *****. Homeowners attempted to address the issues with ***** by text message and on a phone call, but ***** was unwilling to address the problems he caused or compromise in any way. Once Homeowners' mentioned the problems ***** had caused, ***** began claiming Homeowners owe him money and threatened to file a lien. In written communication, ***** told Homeowners that he will not stand by the work, presumably withdrawing the guarantee he had given them in writing on April 18, 2022. *Please note re: attached communications: ***** does not use e-mail and mainly communicated via text message. **** **** would receive text communications from ***** and then forward them to **** **** via e-mail soon after she had received them from *****.
