Two years ago my father who lives in ************ **************. Bought me two gifts for Christmas from Coles Jewelers (a cross necklace and a claddagh ring). It arrived to me in 14k yellow gold, I do not wear yellow gold so I asked my father if he could exchange it for white gold. He was told thats was fine. When the jewelry arrived again it appeared to be white gold. Recently (I had the extra money) I went to my jeweler in *********** to have the ring sized.I was told that would cost $80.00, I agreed. when I picked up the ring , my jeweler informed me that it had been coated in rhodium. When they went to size it, the ring had turned to yellow gold. Instead of exchanging it two years ago they coated it in rhodium. Rhodium gives the appearance of a really shiny white gold.to keep this ring "white gold" I would have to have it recoated every year for approximately $100.00 every year! Also I understand that legally the jeweler is supposed to disclose this information, which they did not. So now I am stuck with this ring it is now 1/2 yellow gold the other half rhodium coated.If I had known this i wouldnt have spent $80.00 to have it sized, and I sure am not paying $100.00 per year to have it coated. This ring is junk, very upset, my father is 80 years old and doesnt want to go back to the store, he clearly got taken advantage of, and this jewelry wasnt cheap , useless to me
