      We were promised either a cruise or a condo stay for listening to their sales promotion. We were told prior to the meeting several things about the cruise that were blatantly untrue; the misinformation provided influenced our decision to participate in the sales pitch. Just a few examples: (1) We were told we had 18 months to use the cruise; that's true except that the cruises are only available during the off-season (September - December), which limits the cruise window to 12 months (as it was December when we participated in the sales pitch. (1) We were told that specifically that **********, ************** was one of the ports that you could sail from; the cruise voucher says that ********** is excluded. (3) We were told there was a refundable $99 deposit to sign up for the cruise; that's true, along with a $99 per person processing fee. (4) We were told we would have to pay for cruise port taxes and fees; that's true, along with having to pay a "non-commissionable cruise fare", whatever that is. (5) We were told that you had to mail in the voucher and the cruise company would send you the planning package and travel request form would be mailed to you. Then you simply sent in the travel request form to book your travel. That's true, except that you have to give the cruise company two choices of dates for your travel. And the voucher states, "no matter how far in advance you submit your travel dates", they will "not contact you until approximately ****** days or more prior to your travel...."

      Please accept this response on behalf of the ************. Client acquisitions are done by third-party marketing firms who contact customers by mail. Respondents are offered incentives to attend either timeshare or vacation club sales. Those appointments of prospective clients are then sold for a fee. The ************ does not provide any fulfillment of the incentives offered by the marketing firms. Regardless, we will have some contact ****************** and see if we can assist him in securing the incentive he was offered.
