My car was towed there on Oct 5, 2022. I received a certified mail on 10/25 saying that I owed $239 for the tow and $37 a day for storage. The car was totaled. I called Interstate and spoke with ********* (owner). She was very rude and kept interrupting me. I explained I only wanted to know what was needed from me. *** told me I owed $740 for the tow. I called my insurance adjuster, who in turn called *********. The adjuster was told as well that the tow was $740 not $239 as was indicated in the letter. ********* also said they would accept my title in lieu of storage fees. Letter says I had 30 days from signed certified mail receipt to make payment. I could not locate my title so I went to DMV on 10/31/2022. I was told I could not obtain a new title because the car was reported abandoned. I called the Rock *********************** that is what the certified letter said to do, and they told me that had been filed directly by Interstate and nothing filed with the court I cannot obtain a title and although my insurance company would reimburse for the tow, the amount owed is NOT what was in the received correspondence. I am disputing this with the Court because SC law Sec 29-15-10 says I have 30 days

The letter clearly stated that the initial amount was owed for the original tow & that the storage per day was a separate charge. The York County Magistrate has a hearing scheduled for this matter in January and the case will be heard at that time. The vehicle owner does not understand that the storage accrues daily and that is the reason that she owes the amount. At no time has anyone been rude to her, just attempting to explain the charges that she does not want to pay for services rendered. To date, we have not been paid on this vehicle.

I am rejecting this response because: They are lying. They made a agreement with the insurance company to accept my title for the storage fees. I could not locate my title so I went to SC dmv on 10/31/22 just 26 days after the accident to be told that my car was reported abandoned. dmv could not confirm who reported it abadoned. ********* poilce, ********* police and state police did not report this. ********* police called Interstate and were told that the state police did it.

I understood perfectly what the letter from Interstate said, it clearly said that I had 30 from receipt of the certified letter to pay 239 for which there is no dispute. When calling Interstate they said it was 750 due to the level of the pickup of the car and they told the insurance adjuster the same thing. Ins does not cover storage and that is why Interstate agreed to take the title. I had no problem paying for the tow because my insurance will reimburse me and Interstate already knew this from the insurance adjuster

I have already written to the Magistate regarding this issue and did not hear back. I have no knowledge of any hearing.

I expect that during this hearing it will be determined who took my title and the current status of my car.

      Our correct email is ******************************************************

The hearing on this case is scheduled for January 3rd, 2023. The magistrate ***** scheduled the hearing and the complainant has been notified. To date, we still have received no payment from any insurance company or from the complainant. Once the hearing is complete, we will be given a magistrate **** of sale per state law in order to scrap the vehicle as it is a total loss. The complaint will be heard in ***** & I expect nothing from the complainant. She's made no effort to pay even the original tow charges, made no further calls to our office & her insurance is not going to pay any of the charges per her agent. Bringing the complaint here has only showed us that she has no intention to pay for any service rendered. We are required to respond to rotation calls for the ** Highway Patrol. Unfortunately many cases end up just like this and we are stuck paying to legally process the scrap. Time and expenses for this process are very expensive and we get no return. Please close this issue as it will be handled by the magistrate *****.
