I contacted Cedar Ridge Landscaping to complete a french drain. This service was completed on 11/30/21. I was charged $18,302.50. On December 15, 2022, I got water in my basement on one whole wall side. I called Cedar Ridge Landscaping and asked them to do something about the water in my basement. Prior to the installation of the french drain, Shane W******* and myself discuss what needed to be done and I express to him where I was getting water in the basement and the low spots in the yard. After Cedar Ridge Landscaping completed the french drain, I was still getting water in the basement. I call and texted Shane only to get the run around with one of his other employess who came out to look at the spring loaded heads, which were installed in the wrong location, not the location that Shane and I talked about. It was decided that they needed to come out when it was raining to see what was going on. I had to keep after them to come out. I was at this point, going back and forth with Shane. I was still getting water in the basement. At this point, Shane offered to move the spring loaded heads and charge me $800.00 to grade my property. I didn't agree to this work because, the current location was not agree to due to the location collecting a lot of water. When it rained, water collected on top of the spring loaded heads which kept them from opening. At this point, I called another landscaper who opened the area at the house corner only to discover that I didn't get a french drain. The pipe leading from french drain on both sides of the house had so much water sitting in it because it had not been sloped properly. I asked for a french drain and didn't get that, a landscaper who didn't know that the drain pipes should have been sloped and the spring loaded heads not being placed in a correct location. I have mold in my basement due to the prolong issue of dealing with this. Shane has not been out to the property since I have been in touch with him with this issue and will not talk to me on the phone. When he offered to move the spring loaded heads, I asked how far and he wouldn't tell me. I would like to get my money back from this contractor for the full amount of $18,302.50 since I didn't get a french drain installed.

This customer was provided with everything that her line item invoice was billed for. She also signed a contract with our company that gave her a 30 day warranty before work began. She did not contact us until right at a year later.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. I reject the response by the contractor because I was charged for a French Drain and that is not what was completed.  The bill shows French Drain but, this was not done.  I did sign a 30 day warranty but, how do you know that we have received rain within those 30 days.  I'm happy that Cedar Ridge Landscaping can, with confidence predict what the weather will be within 30 days to determine if their work is worthy.  Whether I signed a 1, 2 or a 3 day warranty I still did not get a french drain done.  The pictures that I have sent earlier will show that.

This is what the contractor states in an e-mail to me for charging me $18,000.00, "It was never determined where your water issue is coming from, so all we can do is put up barriers to try and protect it. The first is a liquid water proofing material applied straight to the brick, second is a delta barrier applied on top of waterproofing(this is not a drain but a secondary barrier its job is not to catch water at the bottom but an barrier to protect from surface water being absorbed), third is double stacked french drains( these drains are made to absorb water as it drains down from surface, these pipes are corrugated) there again we would not want these all the way at the bottom, and the final is downspouts hard piped out( this is the green pipe you are seeing). You also have a drain field of gravel."  This is amazing that he is a landscaper and doesn't know where the water is coming from but, doesn't have any issue charging me $18,000.00 to do something.  Again, my bill states that he charged me for a french drain but from the photos taken, it is not a french drain.  No matter how you look at this, I asked for a french drain and didn't get that.  After they were done, I was still getting water in the basement so, I called Shane the owner and he had only to offer me to move the spring loaded heads which his crew installed in an area where water was collecting already, this I told Shane before starting on the job.  Shanes only offer was to move the spring loaded heads and then, charge me for grading.

My understanding is that you should get what you paid for, I paid for a french drain and didn't get one.  $18,000.00 is a lot of money for something I can return.  I still feell that I should get my money back for not getting a french drain installed, what is clearly on my bill.

      Regards,

What she has sent us pictures of is not even a french drain. I believe she has had another contractor mislead her on the facts to try and get money out of her. She has two french drains stacked on top of each other under ground. We have sent our grading manager to her house to help her come to a resolution, but she did not want no part of that. Even though the contract that she signed states a 30 day guarantee, we still went above and beyond to help her. At this time that is all we can do. We can not spend our time and efforts over a year later digging her whole yard up just to prove an uneducated contractor wrong.

      Thanks
