On 6/20/23 I (Jacob ******,) scheduled a replacement of my serpentine belt on my 2014 ********* ******** at ASC Automotive ** ********** ** The reason I chose this particular business was due to their availability being the soonest. At roughly 12:15 on 6/21/23 I called to see if my vehicle was complete, I was told it was completed before lunch and then got a text letting me know it was complete post 12:30. The estimated value of the serpentine belt replacement was honored and held true on the final bill. When I dropped off the vehicle I asked if my headlight bulb could be replaced as well, after a nonchalant conversation he agreed that would be fine. I was not given a estimate on the headlight replacement and was prepared to spend a reasonable amount. Upon arrival I was greeted with a $*** bill. Upon questioning why the price of the headlight replacement was so high I was told that it required the fender and tire to be removed. (The fender is noted as removed for the serpentine replacement.) I removed myself from the counter to reallocate funds to pay for the bill, explaining that I may not have the funds necessary. Upon returning to the counter, my service was halted as the owners SO walked in and he asked her to go to the bank to see “how much they owed today.” At this point I told the owner to run my card as I was not pleased and wanted to leave his establishment. I was charged $****** for the serpentine replacement, at this point I asked why I wasn’t charged the whole amount and he said “you were complaining so I figured you didn’t want to pay it.” I had him charge my card the remaining $****** and he then asked if “there was anything else he could do for me.” At this point the keys to my vehicle had not be returned and I had to ask for them. This man smiled and laughed at me as I exclaimed how much this was affecting my livelihood. I have also included business reviews and the response the owner made. This leads me to believe that this is habitual.

I was expecting this step when shortly after you picked up the vehicle your mom had all my relevant BBB stuff-the stuff you have to know where to look.  This coupled with the fact that you recorded the conversation before you even made it into my office and was given the bill also gives me pause. * ** ******** *** *** ***** ***** *****    As you have mentioned the reviews, that brings up an excellent point when put in context. * ** ******** ***** ** *** ** **** ***** **** ** *** **** *********** ** **** *** ***** *************** ******* ** **** * ***** ******* ** **** ****  ***********  Yes you are correct I have had to respond to several-14 to be exact. Habitual is not quite right-categorically is.  In my case that works out to less than 1 a year that I have been in business.  Put another way, 8% of my reviews ( or when you figure about 1/2 are trolls- closer to 4%).  Now I will say you are the first ** *** *** ***** that actually do their intimidation face to face, that I have had to deal with.  Granted you did say your stuff under your breath but that may have been because you were recording me ****** ****  * ********** *****.  I assume when you asked me to "*** * ****" you had stopped recording at that time.  I do see that the recording has not been put into evidence as it will refute everything you said.  You should only use quotes when you can prove it.  If one were to subpoena your recording it would prove all those quotes are lies.  Now if one uses a company that records all of our phone calls then I can quote your mom's " I have money to ******* burn" comment when she was threatening me with a lawyer.

      *** **** ** **** ************ **** ** *** ******* ***** ****** ** **** ***** ********* I am only going to quickly touch on the falsehoods as I don't like people lying about me, ******** * ******* **** ****** ******* **** **** ** **** ** **** ******* *** ***** ****** *** *** ***

      1. Only removed tire-did not remove fender and did not say I removed the fender

      2.  My SO ( took me minute) held the door open for you to walk in so our private conversation that you guys recorded (before you came in??) occurred while you were walking in

      3. As I told you I was so taken back by your behavior and our discussion of the $*** quote that I inadvertently charged that much-simple Freudian slip. That is also what I told you (check your recording)

      4. **** **** ** **** ****** ***** **** ***** *****  I am happy with my life and treat everyone pleasant. I will not be brought down to that level as I hope maybe I can bring others up. So I did finish with telling you the same as I tell everyone,  including "is there anything else?". I never laughed as regretfully it was serious moment ************ * *** ***** **** ******** ** ******.

Okay now to the meat of the matter.  In any good grift you need to ask for something, but I do not seem to see what that is. I would assume  that you want something for 1/2 price or free ( ****** *** ***** **** ***** *** **** ** ****).  * ** ******** **** *** *** **** **** *** ****** *** ********* **** *** ** ( I have been doing this for 35 years)  So I am going to assume your theory is this magical $** dollar number, as you said three of the shops within a block would charge that.  I truly believe all my competitors  are relatively close in price but I could be wrong.  If you would like to get me written quotes from these three shops for your exact vehicle I will match the top quote ( *** *** *** **** ****** ***** ** ** ********). These quotes must include parts , labor, shop fees, and taxes.  That should be fairly easy if your mom wants to just call them all back; heck she could even have them call me if you want.

Finally if I am wrong and you actually feel the way you profess, you know that in the future you can just politely tell the business owner how you feel and the vast majority of us will do what we can to remedy the situation. I can not now because I do not give in to bullying ( *** *** ******** ******** ****** ***** ******** *** *** * ******** **** ******** ** *** **** ****)  Believe it or not most people genuinely care for their fellow man and want what's best for them.  * ** **** **** ******* *** ******** **** *** ********

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I am incredibly disappointed in the manner this owner has responded to me and his ability to make assumptions about me seem to be far and above mine, so let’s start.

      1. There was no phone recording taken by myself at the shop, as I had to intention of getting my meal for half off. (***** * ******* ** * ********** **** **** **** ***** **** **** ***** *** *******) ** ***** ***** ***** ******* ***** ********** *** ********* ** ***** ***** ** *** *** ** ***** **** ********* *** ***** ***** *** ***** ******* ** *** ***** *****.

      2. I’m glad that you mention my mother, as she called as a concerned parent rather than the actual customer who payed you money, so this is between you and I, she’s not included. If she chooses to file another complaint that would be between you and her. So let’s focus on me, the paying customer.

      3. The fender was noted as removed for the serpentine belt, it’s clearly stated on the invoice you provided for me, so this seems like a silly point to argue about.

      4. I would love to provide the business with quote from his competitors, but this will take time, so if I don’t have that available to me than I will gather them simply to educate.

      5. Your “private” conversation was had at your service counter. I was standing in the waiting area. Again, this was not recorded as there was no malicious intent, thus no reason to record, thus no recording.

      6. Business owner mentions multiple times that I am seasoned in the art of getting my money back. This is my first ever BBB complaint, and my intention is hardly to get my money back. ** **** ****** **** *** ***** ********** *** ********** ***** ********* ** *** ******** ****** * ******* ** ******** **** *** ******* **** **** *******

      7. My only future goal with this complaint is to provide accurate information to the reputation of this business. Beings that I don’t have recordings of the interaction I don’t have any proof of the business owners attitude and practice I will let the BBB rely on the narrative he’s provided in response to an unhappy customer. Keep your money, my intention was to get my serpentine belt replaced so that I could safely operate my vehicle. Again the $*** was reasonable and I appreciate the work completed. ** ********* ** ** ******* ** **** *** ****** ***** * ******** ****** ******* *** ********
      ** ** **** ***** ** ***** ** ** * ****** ***** *** *** *** *** ***** *** *** ******** ** ** *** **** ** ******* ****** **** ********* Thank you for your time.

      Sincerely,

      Jacob ************

I also check that I would like “An Explanation of Charges” which has still not been provided. Only original invoice with total costs for service has been given, which i provided initially. ******** ***** *** ** ******* ********* ** *** **** ** ******* ** ***** **** **** ****** **** ** * *** ********** ** **** ***** *** ********* ** ********* ********* ***** If he could show me why my headlight repair was nearly $*** dollars that would be satisfactory and would aid in acquiring competitive quotes as I have no method of knowing how he got to his pricing.
