Hello, I feel the business practices of action mechanical is deceiving and unethical. When I scheduled services for a heating issue I was told on the phone I would be charged for the 1st hour and every hour after would be prorated, and that was it. When the workers showed up on the 20th of December the 2 worker had no idea how to assess the problem and spent an hour reading my manual just to tell me there is nothing they can do. I asked them to also look at my humidifier. again they read the manual and told me the part it is missing they have at their warehouse and would go get it. Fine, 30 minutes later the worker called me to tell me they don't have the parts and could charge me $***** for a new humidifier. Didn't understand that considering they call the warehouse before they left to confirm they have the parts. My guess is they were being deceptive and tried to get more money from me. Well when I received the final bill I was charged for 2 1/2 hours when they did nothing. I was charged for the 30 minutes it took them to get there and also for mileage, this to me is double dipping, I pay for travel and gas. Not right considering I was only told I would pay for the hourly rate. Considering they really did nothing but I had to pay $****** so they could read my manual, travel to and from my location and mileage, completely unreasonable. I would see paying for a hour of their time at $** but this is not right. I did send a complaint to their business but I was told there is nothing they can do just pay the bill. Currently they are paid in full and I will never use them for anything. Action Mechanical, Inc. 20 Dec 2022

Every customer that calls for service is told the exact same thing we have a 1 hour minimum and any time after that is billed in 1/2 increments time starts from our office and they are also charged ****@mile from office. There was 2 technicians that were dispatched to this call the customer was only charged for 1 technicians time.  Customer was asking us to troubleshoot why the upstairs was getting so hot which means technicians would need manual to see how the zones were setup.  The technician informed customer the way to fix problem would be to get rid of the zones and customer did not want to do that.  Technicians looked at humidifier and would need a part to fix technician called the supply house and was told they had the part when technician got to supply house they did not have the part and that it was obsolete.  The customer was charged 2.5 hours for one technician the call was from 1:40 to 4:00 plus the mileage.  The service manager did deduct 1/2 hour off for the supply house run. The invoice was originally invoiced at ****** but with deduct it was ****** the customer paid ******.  The customer also gave us a 5 star review on the dispatch program we use.

I am rejecting this response because:

Action is lying about what they tell you on the phone about prices. Nothing about mileage or extra time. They are also lying about only charging me. They charged me $****** WITH NO adjustments. I can send you the cashed check. Again Action has no problem deceiving customers. As far as the time when the worker left to get the parts for the humidifier I was charged for that time as well and they didn't have the parts. That's not my problem they don't know what they have.

Also being charged 2 1/2 hours just to tell me the zones can't be changed, ask the workers how long they sat in my basement reading my manuals? They maybe did 1 hour of work.

This is just sad, ask the 5 star survey was just for them showing up, not there performance of work.

      Sincerely,

      Corey ******

I was not offered a discount nor did I receive an new bill in the mail. Considering the bill arrived on the 12th of January 2023 when the invoice date was the 21 of December 2022 and was due on the 21st of January 2023 it needed to be paid ASAP to avoid even more unnecessary money (**% late fee, 31 days invoice date) so I had no choice but to pay the only bill I had

If Action offered me a discount then send me a check.

      Sincerely,

      Corey ******

On May 20th I called the after hours line as we needed a plumber. The operator told me that labor costs were *** per hour and that we need to pay mileage. It was one hour 45 minutes until the repairman arrived. He worked for one hour and 25 minutes. The bill we received was for 3 and half hours labor. When we called we were told that they charge labor in addition to the mileage. We were never told that his travel time would be included in the labor costs. We even called the company that evening and were connected to the plumber who said he had to stop and get gasoline. As far as I am concerned, we should only have to pay the mileage and the actual labor costs.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/06/01) */ On 5/20/22 Gary was called to ********************* in ********. He drove to the address after filling up with gas and returned to ********** approximately 3 1/2 hours later. Customer disputed travel time with me (Jerry ******) on 5/27/22 I explained the charge included both mileage and travel time both ways it is 40 miles (55 minute drive going speed limit) I offered to take 1/2 hr (*****) off the bill and was told that was not enough and they felt they should not have to pay travel time. I explained that has always been policy and was rudely responded to and call was disconnected. No discount will be given. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/06/02) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I am sure it is not legal to double bill. I agreed to pay mileage. I agree to pay labor, but how is travel time billed as labor? The drivers can take as long as they want to arrive at the location and expect the customer to pay. The person on the phone, Jerry, was **** to us and hung up on us. He was yelling and screaming at me and would not let me speak. I tried to tell him that we can drive to ********** in 40 minutes and he said that was not true. There is no way to charge labor costs for driving. It's either mileage or labor. Not double billing Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2022/06/29) */ Customer has paid this bill in full minus the ***** we had offered her. Consumer Response /* (2000, 17, 2022/07/06) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) We have learned a valuable lesson in that some businesses do not operate in a fair manner. Unfortunately this is legal for a company to do. In the future, we need to ask if a company does this. In all our years here, this is the first time this has happened. We had no other choice but to pay this astronomical bill. We will never use them again.
