RE: First PREMIER Bank credit card account ending in ****

      Dear *******

This is in response to your request for debt validation and correction to your credit report.

Debt validation is only required of debt collectors. First PREMIER Bank is the original creditor, not a debt collector. The application was received online, and there is no signed contract available.

Credit card accounts must be reported to the consumer reporting agencies, and there is not an option to opt out of reporting.

The account was opened in November 2018. We stopped receiving payments, so it charged off in October 2022 with a balance of $1,073.02, which remains today.

Charged-off accounts are normally removed from the credit report seven years from the charge-off date, and the consumer reporting agencies are responsible to remove them at the correct time. Accurate information is neither changed nor removed early.

If you feel this account is either fraudulent or reporting to the consumer reporting agencies inaccurately, please provide a detailed explanation and any supporting documentation. This can be uploaded here or sent to:

First premiere has been reporting a past due balance to my credit for a while now when the account has been closed, settled, and paid. I am requesting for deletion on this account as I have took a major hit on my credit for months now and they are not willing to make it right. I request that this be deleted. I spoke to a representative on Friday and she advise there is nothing they can do but send me a letter. I have attached the letter below. Thank you for your time on this matter.

RE: First PREMIER Bank credit card account ending in ****

      Dear *******

This is in response to your concerns regarding credit reporting.

The account charged off in February 2019, was settled in May 2023, and has a zero balance. Charged-off accounts remain on the credit report approximately seven years from the charge-off date, even if settled.

It’s important for your credit report to show the history of your accounts to ensure fairness in the credit reporting system. We confirmed we are accurately reporting to the consumer reporting agencies as settled for less then the full balance, charged-off, zero balance, and disputed by consumer. Accurate information is neither changed nor removed early.

We know this isn’t the answer you want but hope you understand our commitment to accurate credit reporting.

      Sincerely,

      Dear *******

You stated your balance is not showing zero on your credit report.  We thoroughly reviewed your account multiple times and confirmed we’re accurately reporting your account to the consumer reporting agencies as charged off and paid in full for less than the full balance. The screenprint you attached to your complaint reflects a zero balance.

The same information is reported to each consumer reporting agency, and they are expected to update the information on your credit report. It is normal to see slight differences in how each credit report reflects the account information.

We recognize that it’s frustrating to have negative information on your credit report and hope you can understand our commitment to accurate reporting.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this business, please let the business know that you contacted BBB for a BBB Business Profile.
