In May 2022 my roof and house sustained hail damage. I contacted E&B roofing on 6/18/22. I signed a contract for work to be completed. The roofer stated he would accept the amount insurance paid per our signed contract. My roof was replaced on 7/22/22. The first invoice was for $******** which was paid by me. Additional costs were incurred to pay for city code requirements. A second check for $******** was sent to pay the invoice in full. After the roof had been completed I was told that the gutters needed to be replaced as well as the minor siding damage that was part of the original contract. I contacted Brent from E&B several times as to when the gutters and siding repair would be completed. He ignored my calls. I did find out from his father, who was the previous owner, the name of the subcontractor who had been hired to do the gutters and siding. I did contact this individual who stated that he no longer was working for E&B. Again multiple phone calls and texts were sent to Brent asking when they anticipated the job would be completed. My last contact with Brent was in December with no response. I called today (3/2/23) and left a message. I just want to know if he is going to comply with our contract and replace the gutters and damaged siding as we agreed.

      Business response

Dear Better Business Bureau, **** ******** this email is Elmer ******* and Brent *******, owner and vice president of E&B Roofing respectively.

In respect to our customer Linda *********, BBB number ******** dated March 1st, 2023, here is our documented proof of communication in order to remove number ******** from our file.

My name is Gary *** *******, I work on behalf of E&B Roofing and have since 2016.

EB Roofing is a company established right here in ***** ***** has been here for over 40 years; I could be working with any roofing company, but I chose EB Roofing because of its reputation and dedication to its customers at an extremely high level and maintains that throughout all of its customers.

I should know because the owner, Elmer *******, has set the standard above and beyond the norm to be rest assured that all customers are satisfied. In fact, his first words to me, before starting with the EB Roofing, was "do not forget what the site looks like after you first met with the homeowner." His reason was  "when we complete the job, we want to make sure the site is cleaner then it was when we got there!"

Linda ********* first called into our office on June 6th, 2022. Our return call to her allowed us to have a wonderful meeting on June 18th, 2022 , she signed our contracts the same day. I also informed Linda that I would be the main contact as each project, Roofing, siding, gutters moves forward. And as the roofing begins Brent would be the main contact for roofing questions.

She is correct, we are contracted to do her roof, gutters and siding. At the time of signing the contract, Linda was informed that the roof will be done first and the gutters and siding would be sometime after, given the extensive unprecedented storms in August 2021 and April and May 2022.

The demand on gutters and siding was/is overwhelming. Therefore, it was uncertain as how soon siding and gutter work was to be completed and that we bill as each item is completed.

Linda contacted us on July 5th, 2022 to determine status of job. She was informed of roofing schedule.

The roof was completed July 22nd, 2022. Brent was on site to speak with Linda and he informed me that she asked about the siding and gutters. She was again informed on site that we could not confirm scheduled given the demand of emergency siding repairs. Brent informed her to contact me in regards to anything to do with the siding.

I also informed Linda that given the numerous number of clientele EB Roofing has established; in order to documents each project  EB Roofing would have to text and or email. Copies of the email with stamp time will be sent following this email.

After the roof was completed July 22nd 2022 our invoice was sent August 2nd, 2022.

My text to Linda confirmed ************ to be accurate was August 20th, 2022 at 4:16 p.m. and my our second notification request for payment for roofing was September 2nd, 2022 at 12:45 p.m.

Each text indicated with the unprecedented number of storms it going to take time before we could get to the siding.

There was no response from Linda, and final payment for the roof, that was completed in July, was not paid in full until January or February to my understanding.

And as we are all aware, ***** ***** winter came early and has stayed and is still here. Until weather clears and until it is OSHA ready and safe to do work, EB Roofing is unable to complete the siding and with ice and snow on the roofs obviously we cannot complete the gutters.

Linda has always been on our list of jobs to complete and we are quite a well aware that we're contracted to do the remaining work on her behalf.

This is no disrespect to Linda, but this is merely just one homeowner excited to see her work completed and excited to make sure that we are committed to complete the work on her behalf this spring. We are committed to complete her siding and we have numerous number of other homeowners from last year's storms siding also to be completed.

There is nothing that EB Roofing has done to misrepresent its contract nor have they neglected anything on behalf of Linda *********.

Linda also stated that she contacted the owner and the owner gave her a number to one of our gutter crew. When Linda contacted them, she was told that they were no longer working with us. We had to bring on another gutter crew.

Please be rest assured our gutter crew and our siding crew are dedicated to us. Our crew maintains reasonable cost outside of others which are inflating their costs given the demand and work. And as promised, we are doing the work for the insurance proceeds so that Linda's only legal cost is her deductible.

I spoke with Brent directly, he also provided me with the the list of gutters still needing to be done and Linda is on our list. I have Linda on the list for siding with our siding crew. As weather breaks we will know much better where things sit.

Once BBB has received this response, we will also inform Linda.

Should you, the Better Business Bureau, need any further information or documentation please let us know as soon as possible.

I will forward the text that were sent on August 20th and September 2nd, 2022 to you via email right after this email is sent.

Linda , In all due respect, we request that texting or emailing be the means of communication directly to me Gary here in ***** ***** @ ************ or ******************

      Sincerely,

      Gary *** *******
