I was in desperate need of some help with a leaky roof that was destroying the interior of my home. After countless calls and broken promises from many other contractors that strung me along and never showed up, one call on a Saturday and Cody was at my house within hours. He spent a great deal of time and effort to explain everything to me and quickly inspected my roof. As it turned out it was a chimney problem which he quickly identified and gave me leads on other contractors and sent me pictures of the problem area. Cody didn't make a dime but spent an entire Saturday afternoon helping me out. Cody showed compassion, integrity, and knowledge and will be the first person I'll call for any roofing needs I have in the future. I highly recommend CAT Construction if you want an honest, hard working, knowledgeable and personable human to work with.

Considering the number of ethical and reasonably priced roofing contractors in the Black Hills area, avoid CAT Construction for any of your roofing needs. They lacked honesty and integrity in their dealings with me. If you feel obligated to deal with CAT Construction, always be the intermediary and NEVER allow them to deal directly with your insurance carrier.
I contracted with Cody ******* of CAT construction in May 2020 to replace the shingles on my house and the metal roofing on a storage building. The contract was signed based on a reasonable appraisal conducted in January 2020. This contract was modified twice, once to remove proposed work on our housing association water system building, and once to install higher quality shingles on the house. Both I and Cody signed off on these modifications. After the work was completed, Cody produced another "appraisal" that was manipulated out of my insurance company and $14,000 higher than the appraisal in the signed contract. I refused to pay the entire amount and we went to court over the issue. I lost the court case even though the magistrate judge admitted at the opening of the case that he "knew very little about contract law, but this was an easy one to adjudicate". It was easy since he ignored the written contract. The judge ruled in favor of the contractor. This new "appraisal" was introduced as evidence in court, even though proof exists that at least $1,000 of work not done. ***************************** Leaving out facts that are detrimental to your case under oath is not "the whole truth". The other $13,000 was also bogus, since the original appraisal for replacing shingles on my house was the same as what my next-door neighbor paid.a week later. Both houses were built in 2006 by the same contractor and are of equivalent size and construction. He will blame the insurer for any problems. I am still waiting for him to correct a simple eave trough issue. Pure greed.
