On September 20, 2021, we hired *************************** of Jobs Unlimited to create a pricing estimate for painting the cabinets in the kitchen, repairing and painting outside wood trim and repair/replacement of backyard wood fence. After 3 months of prodding, work on the kitchen finally began on January 25, 2022. The workers with whom he contracted were not qualified to do the job. As a result, the kitchen cabinets were ruined by the painter, the outside woodwork was incomplete and poorly done, and the fence was installed improperly and against the building code for fences. After many delays and excuses, on June 25, 2022, ****************** denied responsibility in a text message for all of the blunders, then, in a second text, accepted that he had been at fault. He said he would fix the problems, starting with the fence but did not follow up. Then, on June 28, after one final promise to finish, he completely disappeared. We paid ****************** for the job he was supposed to do. He asked for payment saying he needed the money to pay his workers and with the promise that he was on it and would finish. We paid a total of $15,578.35. The invoice totals, issued on April 6, 2022 and May 9, 2022 showed a charge of $14,490.19 and a payment record that didnt include a payment from us on April 4, 2022 of $1750.00. We informed ****************** on May 9, 2022 of the overpayment. He said he would check his records but never responded further. We sent ****************** a letter with all the information, especially about the overpayment. He received it on July 26, 2022. He never replied. We were forced to hire a second contractor to bring the piece of the fence into compliance (per the codes department) and to finish the job. That cost us $5700 additional.
