I was diagnosed with throat cancer X-XXXX I finished Chemotherapy and Radiation treatment in June of 2021 As a result of this history before any surgery could be performed Dr Hamlin from this office ordered Hyperbaric Treatments to insure proper healing after surgery I have teeth that are deteriorating as a result of radiation and have difficulty eating I was told I would need to go through 10 treatments before surgery and 15 post surgery I was diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder while undergoing cancer treatments During Radiation treatments because of having the cancer located in my throat my entire head face and neck had to be tightly locked down with a mask while the radiation was directed at the side of my neck I was not able to move for over half an hour As a result of this continuous treatment I began to experience claustrophobia and higher levels of anxiety I went forward with 6-7 hyperbaric treatments and could not handle the level of anxiety I experienced each time once more in a small inclosed space for an extended period of time. So I put a hold on the treatments I reached out to my Psychiatrist for help managing the anxiety who prescribed further medication I admit that I did delay informing Dr Hamlins office that I had to take a pause on these treatments due to various personal circumstances that occurred during this time On X-XX-XX I called the office to speak with them about the difficulty I had with hyperbaric treatments but that I was willing to continue after seeing my Psychiatrist They told me I had only had 2 treatments when I had gone to more They claimed I had verbally refused treatment which I had not And they were dismissing me as a patient because I could possibly be a harm to others due to the stress and anxiety I had experienced The rude and unkind treatment I verbally received I feel I am being discriminated against and turned away from receiving badly needed medical treatment for having a medical disorder

Business Response /* (1000, 12, 2022/10/07) */ Patient was consulted for dental extraction. Due to history of throat cancer with chemo and radiation treatment within the past year. Standard of care for this condition is 20 pre-op hyperbaric dives and 10 post-op dive. We were alerted by wound care center that patient only had 2 pre-op dives, making excuses for not continuing required treatment. Patient called our office insisting that we remove the tooth anyway. Per Dr. Michael Hamlin, area will not heal without hyperbaric treatments and he is not willing to proceed since patient is non-compliant. Patient's wife called and we again explained the need for hyperbaric treatment, she then accused us of being discriminatory of her husband due to his PTSD. Told her this was the standard of care for ALL cancer patients needing extractions.
