6-XX-XXXX We hired Union Jack Plumbing to repair a gas water heater at a rental we own. They said it needed to be replaced and it would be $1585.00 to do it. I said go ahead due to it being a rental and my renters needed hot water. A few hours later the owner, **** Sabey, called and said his worker fell through my ceiling. Said he went up to the attic to see why the vent pipe was loose. He said he fell through because he thought the board he was standing on continued over to the vent pipe even though it was covered with insulation. The board ended and he came crashing through the ceiling. I will attach a picture of the damage it caused. He said he called someone to come over and close the hole up. He told me the guy fixed it temporarily. I assumed **** would fix it since it was his mistake. I paid him for the new water heater. A couple of weeks later I called **** and asked when the other man was going to fix it. He told me to call him and see. I did and asked the other man, *** ******** if **** was going to pay him to repair it he told me **** said nothing to him about it and that **** actually didn't pay him to temporarily fix it with his own materials. After my husband and I spoke with **** about fixing the ceiling, **** said he didn't feel like it was his responsibility to fix it or to pay to fix it! He said he did me a "favour" by going to the attic to fix the vent pipe. I did not ask him to do this. I paid him $1585.00 to install a new water heater, I think making sure it was installed and vented properly would be part of that $1585.00. I have requested a couple of times to please send me all the paperwork on the new water heater and have received nothing. We think it is ****'s responsibility to pay for the repair.
