On 5-01-2024 Speedworx motors sold a 2017 ford -350 flatbed truck listed as having only a faulty fuel gauge for 30,000.00 dollars . This vehicle was listed as runs and drives good as well as transmission shifts good . While taking the test drive the vehicle began throwing engines codes for low fuel rail pressure . We found that the fuel pump was missing a gasket and it was suggested that was the cause for the code . I drove 3-1/2 hours back home with truck and had to immediately put it into the shop for repairs that were at a cost of $4100 just to be able to diagnose the underlying Issue of CP4 high volume fuel pump failure that has an estimated repair cost of $10,000 up to as much as $12,000 . My mechanic stated that it appears that there has been an attempt to hide this issue as there was questionable work done to the vehicle recently.. I made contact with ***** ****** To report this and try to come to A amicable resolution. I have since been unable to reach anyone after dozens of attempts to call and resolve this only to get a voicemail box that cannot receive messages or voicemails. as of this date, I paid $30,000 for the truck and immediately had to pay an additional $4100 in repairs within 24 hours of the purchase and if I am to repair the vehicle as to be able to use it, there will be an additional $10-$12,000 making the total money amount to be $14,100-$16,100 in repairs which amounts to nearly half of the purchase price. I believe one’s integrity should go hand-in-hand with the reputation that they are trying to establish with their business and their business practices. There are also questionable fees and practices on the buyers order , that will have to be addressed by the state to determine their legal status on the contract. I feel that there may have been some sort of targeting with this sale. All I’m asking is to have the repair cost amount refunded or paid before I have anymore work completed . There are many more complaints filed online about this

I bought a truck from Speedworx Motors in Cleveland, Tennessee in which was stated, "Truck is solid all around with no visible rust, rocker panels have been replaced." "No check engine light or other maintenance lights" (Pictured). The dealer, ***** stated in his ad, over phone, and within text messaging nothing was wrong with the truck. Before the Bill of Sale signing I asked him again, “On the one that says about major possible defects, none of them apply to this truck correct?” He stated, “Correct” (Pictured). I had it shipped to my location and went to get it inspected at the local dealership to make sure everything was in good shape as it was stated. It failed the check for over $2,000 worth of safety/steering parts being broken or completely worn out. 9 bulbs blew, interior buttons not working/broken, tailpipe missing, needed 4 out of 8 glow plugs, 1 dead battery, sensors needing replaced, airbag light on, e-brake cable snapped under the truck, and missing inner rockers were some of the unstated/discovered problems right when the truck was delivered. The rest are listed in the attached pictures. A few days later I found a rust hole on the tailgate and inside the truck that goes to the outside under the driver seat (Pictured). I looked underneath the vehicle and found there was duct tape covering the damages that was spray painted over to try and hide them (Pictured). The underneath is rusted out in other spots as well and missing the inner rocker panels which were stated to be replaced. The dealer, *****, isn’t willing to help me besides the $500 he sent me to fix some stuff and his dealership discount on a battery replacement. My consumer rights were violated within this situation due to being lied to and the misleading advertisement. It wasn’t safe to be driving on the road in the state it was sold to me in due to the rust hole letting water inside the truck and the steering/safety parts being so worn or broken per the dealership I had check over it.

My dealership sold **** ***** a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500hd on 2/21/23. He wanted the truck shipped to him (which we do often as we sell a lot to out of state buyers). Before selling him the truck, I talked to him on the phone and disclosed everything I knew about the truck. This consisted of letting him know the outter rocker panels had been replaced but the inner panels had not. The truck was solid on the outside but needed some attention to the inner rocker panels and underside. His response was “I’m not worried about it, it’s better than the trucks we have here in PA”. He had seen 20+ photos of the truck and videos.

After purchasing the truck, I set up shipping and had the truck delivered to him less than 48 hours later. Upon arrival he asked about there being an airbag light on which was already disclosed in my ad with a photo. The low coolant light was on which we thought was from the truck sitting at an angle on the trailer during transportation. He said the batteries were bad (the truck started up and drove on and off of the trailer). After taking the truck to an inspector, they disclosed that the truck needed some front end parts replaced (idler arm, pitman arm, inner and outter tie rods), obd codes for 4 glow plugs, cv axle boot needed replaced, the airbag light needed addressed, and the wheel offset was too much and stuck out past the fender (obviously he knew the wheels stuck out before the purchase). The truck did not pass PA inspection for these issues. No other issues were mentioned. After going back and forth, I showed him where to purchase all of the parts needed and refunded him parts money to fix the issues. This was on 3/1/23.

Fast forward to 3/4/23, I receive a text from **** saying there was a rust issue with the driver floor panel and cab mounts needed repaired along with the inner rocker panels (remind you I had already disclosed the inner rocker issues before the purchase was made). I told him I never had the truck torn apart on the inside so I wasn’t aware of the rust starting under the driver side interior kick panel. He told me there was painted over duct tape under the cab (didn’t know it was possible for tape to stick to rusty metal, but regardless there was obviously an issue that I was not aware of).

After talking back and forth with **** for a few days, I offered to help fix the rust issues. He declined and wanted me to purchase the truck back. I told him I would not do that but I was willing to help fix the rust issues under the floor and cab mounts. From that point, he made several public ******** posts bashing our business and had 12-15 people leave us false negative ****** reviews. I’m calling them false because these people did not know the entire story and had not done business with my dealership. **** proceeded to file a false fraudulent dispute with his credit card company for the $1000 deposit he left me over the phone to hold the truck until he completed payment for the truck by wire transfer.

At this point, I decided that it was not in my businesses best interest to respond or move forward with ****. Honestly at this point, it was border line harassment as I had multiple people personally call and reach out to me regarding  the issue that should have been kept solely between my business and ****.

This vehicle was sold to him in as-is condition. We did not warranty or guarantee anything about the truck. **** signed paperwork from my dealership stating this and acknowledged that he was buying this vehicle as-is. He declined coming to personally inspect the vehicle before purchasing. My dealership was only offering to help fix the rust issues that he found under the truck out of good will, we did not have to offer this. We also did not have to refund him any money to fix the battery or front end components but we did this to help as we did not know about those issues.

I understand the frustration in this situation but remind you we are dealing with a 20+ year old truck with over 200k miles. We represent them the best we can and encourage any potential buyer to come personally inspect the vehicle or have a mechanic inspect before purchasing. **** did not do this.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because I’d like to provide a rebuttal to the response. I will address each of the following paragraphs below:

***** talked to me on the phone the day of the sale and he did not disclose anything at all wrong with the truck. His listing didn't disclose anything wrong with it either besides a small picture of the airbag light being illuminated on the dash that wasn’t mentioned in the ad as well. I still asked him, "So nothing at all is wrong with this truck?" The only statement he said was that "no, we barely even had to touch this truck, we only added wheels and tires since it didn't need anything else." He did not once mention about the inner rocker panels needing replaced or anything else. In his listing he even has that the rocker panels (plural) were replaced. He said nothing about the individual panels. I did not say anything in regards to his quote regarding where he mentions me replying to him. He proceeded to delete the listing of the truck that I purchased even though other vehicles he sold are still on his page. He deleted his company’s video that they made in regards of the truck receiving a “3 week turnaround” as mentioned again below. I have this video saved to my phone as well.  There were 19 photos of the truck and no video as he is stating in his reply. I have all of the original screenshots on my phone just in case something like this happened.

The airbag light was not mentioned at all in his original listing is why I asked about it. The low coolant light and the "fuel filter" light was on at time of arrival when the shipper's backed it down off the trailer. We checked and it was completely out of coolant causing the light to be on. I stated the battery was bad due to the truck not starting back up once the shipping company shut it off. Multiple attempts of jumping were initiated until it started up and was pulled in the garage. Later the batteries was tested at a local ******** and 1 of them were defined as "bad." I took it to get checked over at our local dealership and it came back with $2,120.62 in mechanical repairs. These included "no catalytic converter, muffler, or tailpipe, parking brake cable broken and parking brake shoe lever seized in drum, loose tire rods, pitman arm, and idler arm, RF axle boot leaking on brake caliper, 4 glow plugs were bad, and the airbag wouldn't communicate with the control module. Also, a front end alignment was needed per the written quote. This was all on the 3 page written quote including labor costs for the shop to perform the jobs. He offered me $500 to buy some cheaper parts and let me use his account at ******** to purchase a battery myself for a slight discount. This didn't come close to paying the dealership for the mechanical issues though.

While the dealership was looking over my truck, they called me back and showed me the rust/safety issues regarding the truck. There were broken off and missing cab bolts to hold the actual cab of the truck to the frame. They then showed me the bed must not have fit correctly so Speedworx (*****) dragged the holes and stacked them with common washers to get the bed to even out with the cab. Some of the bed bolts were missing as well. The rust he mentions not seeing was on the outside going to the inside. It was a complete hole I could stick a few fingers through and see straight through. It was very noticeable and even lets water get into the truck, making it unable to drive in rainy conditions. I sent him multiple pictures of that and the duct tape covering up the body rot/rust that he spray painted over when he was redoing the truck. He had a video on his dealership page of the truck and him redoing it performing a "3 week turnaround," but he deleted it in hopes nobody would see it. I still have it saved on my phone as well just in case that happened as mentioned above.

***** stopped talking to me after I mentioned the rust and other problems. I left an honest/factual review on ******** about my experience with Speedworx. He then messaged me the next day saying, "Call me when you can please. I want to talk to you about this truck." He said, "I would be willing to refund you money to fix the body mount issues and issues with the floor under the panel by the driver seat." He got upset because other people seen my review and on their behalf, left him false reviews as well. This wasn't under my control. I simply left a review of my experience with them including pictures of the original listing and what I received. I did not bash as ***** states, I just left an honest review. Afterwards, he left a review on the same pages but he deleted them not long after when people were telling him to make it right with my issue. I have the pictures of his deleted posts as well. I filed the $1000 deposit back to have my truck partially repaired since ***** ended up not helping me with anything.

It is not my fault others have lashed out to ***** in regards to my honest review on the internet. I have no control over that and did not have anything to do with that situation. I even told them I wouldn't recommend doing that since they didn't conduct business with him like I have.

This truck was sold "as-is" per Speedworx/*****'s listing. The truck was supposed to be "solid all around, with no visible rust, rocker panels have been replaced, body is straight and paint looks good, truck needs nothing and is ready to go." He did not disclose to me anything wrong with the truck or I would not have purchased it. He also didn’t offer to have it inspected or I would have had it done by me or another third party mechanic. This truck isn't safe to be on the road in its current condition. I had several body shops look it over and they mentioned the same statement. One body shop I have a quote from has written, "The rocker panels and cab corners were not installed properly and must be removed to install the inner rockers (Which are not present). All cab mounting bolts are missing and the cab mounting areas are damaged and or rusted, and in need of repair. It is our opinion that this vehicle is not safe for use of any kind. It is also in our opinion that if this vehicle were to begin repairs the amount of unseen damage would almost absolutely cause a Total Loss Situation. Meaning the amount to repair this truck would be more than it's value."

I wouldn't take the time to write this if it wasn't a big problem. I'm glad the local dealership and I caught these problems. If another family bought this truck and didn't know to have it checked out before driving, injury or death could unfortunately happen due to the safety problems this truck portrays.

      Sincerely,

      ******* *****
