We contracted Colt Collier to build a Spa Room with an Endless Pool and could not be any happier with the way the project turned out. Colt had to work through several unique challenges and did a awesome job. The project experienced the typical supply chain issues, specifically waiting for the windows and doors. This delay was out of Colts hands and he kept us up to date on the progress. Colt did an awesome job and would recommend him.Colt Collier Construction LLC Response

It is with regret that I have to warn others, but we used Colt Collier Construction, LLC to build our first new home. When we signed the contract, Mr. C****** assured my wife and I that our project would go quickly within 6-9 months. It ended up taking 14. One excuse after another. He also completely forgot to estimate materials into our project which caused us to go over budget by nearly $80K. We were forced to spend an additional $30K out of pocket unexpectedly to try to mitigate some of these costs and to meet the 10% overage clause in the contract, which states that the project should not exceed 10% of the total estimated cost. Problem is, Mr. C****** completely forgot to estimate tens of thousands of dollars worth of materials and labor. All documented. Now he is attempting to sue us, his clients, for an additional $53K even after leaving us with an unfinished driveway that we are stuck fixing ourselves, leaking water in windows, doors and windows that won't shut properly, crooked floors, cracked basement walls, and the list goes on and on. He has ignored requests to fix these items pursuant to his own contract, which is a breach. He also costed us an additional $12K or so in rent by going 5 months over the timeframe he promised. This man shows no accountability of his mistakes. The cracked basement walls are a huge issue that must be fixed - no one should have this in a brand new home, and unfortunately it was illegal immigrants who were working on the foundation and had a beer party on our property and littered our natural water spring with their bottles and trash. There is trash all over our property still that we are cleaning up even 5 months after moving in. This experience has caused extreme financial burden and stress on our family and is the worst experience I've had with a contractor in my life. You have been warned.Colt Collier Construction LLC Response

We live in an era where people can post false narratives as truths. The real truth is quite simple- Mr. ***** was given an estimated bid based upon specific selections he made for his home. CCC took this job on a “cost-plus” basis, not a turn-key fixed price. Throughout the project, a full basement was requested with an additional finished office and bathroom. Furthermore, an expansive deck with additional stairs was also later decided upon, among other decisions. CCC completed this project within the agreed upon 10% range according to receipts submitted by the client. CCC readily offered remedies to any and all issues that arose, and the client chose to accept all work performed as to “not slow down progress”. CCC is determined to perform work of the highest quality, and we proudly stand behind our work. Unfortunately, Mr. ***** refused to pay his final bills claiming that he shouldn’t have to pay for costs over his original estimate, which did not include the aforementioned changes. Consequently, Mr. ***** was served with legal documents and is choosing to retaliate rather than do what is right- pay his outstanding balance. CCC attempted to handle this amicably, but Mr. ***** chose otherwise. CCC has made many adaptations to be better protected from less honorable clients. Lastly, please note that Mr. ***** originally gave a 5 star review for services rendered before he became angry about paying for his home and served with legal documents. It read: “We found Colt Collier Construction through a friend of ours and after speaking with Colt, we really liked the fact that he is the go-to man for the project, meaning direct communication between the owner and builder…. Colt promptly addressed our concerns and remedied any issues as they were identified. The home is turning out beautifully and we should be wrapped up soon. If you want a builder who genuinely cares about his clients, pays attention to detail, and is flexible enough to go above and beyond in some instances where it's necessary, Colt is your guy. I rarely write reviews, but he deserves it.”Review from Alexander P.

Colt was extremely helpful and was there to help with any questions or concerns we had. We were building right in the midst of Covid and he kept us aware of all changes that may potentially occur and even provided options before they happened so we were ahead of it. He answered any call or text almost immediately. We were very new to this process and he respected our ideas, while also providing professional recommendations. He never once made us feel pressured for any decision and carried out any request we had. I never felt like anything was ridiculous that I asked. We have lived in our home for 2 years at this point and still love it as much today as when he handed us the keys. I would recommend CCC to anyone taking on building a new home!Colt Collier Construction LLC Response

We have experienced the worst building process possible with this contractor. We were told 6-9 months to build. It took 13 months. I personally had to get my own subs because he was not getting bids from subs like we requested multiple times. We were told by a number of his subs that they had to chase him down for money after every job. They said he didn’t have many subs to choose from, so our house sat idle for weeks at a time. He also made some decisions without our permission that were not best for our budget such as installing a tankless water heater and spray foam insulation. We paid for his mistakes and he never admitted when he was wrong someone else was always to blame. He never answered his phone after 5pm during the week and also never answered on the weekends. Towards the end of this process, his wife sent a threatening email telling us not to post or say anything negative about his business. It was an awful experience that had us in tears of frustration many times. There were so many issues. It seemed like every step of the way was another lie. We also had mold growing on our finished basement walls a few weeks after we moved in. Thankfully, that was rectified but only after many calls and emails. I give credit to the water proofing company for getting that resolved. If you want an experienced contractor who is honest, communicates well, or takes accountability for his actions, he is not the contractor for you.Colt Collier Construction LLC Response

With each job, we take all things into consideration to improve our systems and processes. As a small business owner, we take pride in setting time aside for family which is why Colt Collier Construction closes at 5pm and is not open on weekends. However, we are prompt to respond to urgent or special situations. Building a home during post-pandemic times certainly posed various supply issues and price fluctuations that most weren’t prepared for; nonetheless, we carried out the work to the best of our ability while navigating these unprecedented times. CCC is not responsible for the mold issue which was created by the homeowners allowing non-qualified family members to perform work on the home. We discouraged this approach, however CCC mitigated and resolved the issue through our network of vetted and insured sub-contractors. We take pride in what we do and in our working relationships with subs we’ve established through trust. When following our proven systems and processes, the home owner has a true client experience and is satisfied with the end result. CCC is grateful for every opportunity that allows us to learn and grow as a company in order to continue serving others with the highest standards.Customer Response

The family members who painted the interior of the home had nothing to do with the mold issue. Thank you for proving my point on how you cannot take accountability for your mistakes.
