On October 13, 2021, I called the Memphis Concrete Contractors (XXX-XXX-XXXX) to get information about repaving our driveway and sidewalk. They returned my call on October 20. I was told to take pictures of the driveway and send measurements of the area to be paved. I sent them the measurements, and was informed that the charges would be $10,000. ***** *********, who claimed to be the "owner of the company," then called me and told me that they could do the job for $8000. Then he decided that they could do the job for $7500. When he came to my office to collect half the fee as a down payment, he told me to make the check out to him personally, since he is the owner of the company. I made the mistake of giving him a check for $3750, which he cashed immediately. He then informed me in a phone call that it was going to rain, and be too muddy, so he was not going to start the job on the Monday that we had agreed upon (November 1). And I have not heard anything about a date when he will start the project. Now, when I call ***** ********* (X-XXX-XXX-XXXX), I just get a message that the "voice mail box is full." When I call Memphis Concrete Contractor, I get someone named ***** ****** who claims he has no idea who ***** ********* is. I have called and texted Mr. ********* multiple times and have not been able to reach him. I did text him and told him that I don't want him to do the job since he couldn't do it when we agreed to have it done, and I want my money returned. Of course, he hasn't returned any of my phone calls or texts. I don't know how he would have gotten messages from the Memphis Concrete Contractors if he isn't really involved in the company at all. Obviously he stole my money, and I doubt that I can get it back. But I don't want this to happen to someone else.
