On Dec. 4, 2021 my wife and I contracted with Roof MD to install a new roof and 3 Velux brand skylights at our home. The roof installation was successful; the skylights have been a disaster. Before the skylights were ordered, my wife sent texts to ************************ the owner, asking if the skylights would provide UV protection and insulate against heat in the summer. She was assured that was so. After installation, we noticed the Velux plastic bubble skylights acted instead as magnifying glasses. The heat gain and sunlight were intolerable. ********************** suggestion: get shades. Sadly, no Velux shades will fit these custom skylights. ****************** seemed unwilling to correct his terrible installation. In fact, he visited the jobsite only once after installation when one skylight leaked water into our house. In desperation, we contacted a Velux-certified installer, *******************. They examined the skylights and told us the following: 1) The skylights are commercial grade (not residential), traditionally used in warehouses, not $500,000 homes. 2) The skylights have no insulating properties vs. the triple insulation of residential skylights. 3) The skylights were improperly installed. Instead of resting ON the curb opening, the skylights were improperly installed OVER the curbs. They didn't use Velux-specified fasteners. The middle skylight has a one-inch gap between the roof and skylight that opens to the outside, leaking in hot air in the *************** and leaking out warm air in the fall and winter. ************** gave us the name of his Velux factory contact whom we called. We found out ************** never sought advice from his Velux **** ************************ until after the skylight debacle. Throughout this affair ************** has been uncooperative, only agreeing to charge us another $3000 to fix his mistake, much like a surgeon who charges for another operation after he left behind a scalpel. We seek a full refund ($5k) & the cost of fixing his many mistakes ($10k).Initial Complaint

Roof MD(owner **** *******) replaced the roof on my home on 8/14/15. I was given a 10 year warranty on workmanship. I contacted Mr. ******* in April because the roof was leaking. He sent a worker(Joseph) to check out the roof on 5/1/21. I haven't been able to reach Mr. ******* since. He will not return my phone calls or texts and his voice mailbox is full. The invoice says I paid Roof MD $7730. I would like Roof MD to repair roof or pay for another company to complete job.
