Island cove marina sold me a lemon boat and was aware of the issues, such as a cracked hull that took in water and blown superchargers, leaving me stranded on the lake immediately after purchasing. They denied this, but one of the workers did admit to me that they all knew about it but hid it from me. I contacted them several times and they said I'm just a woman who doesn't know how to drive a boat. I was never able to actually take it out, but was told it was a great reliable boat that was just serviced and ready to go. I have plenty of media but exceeds the upload limitsBusiness response

I have attached the documents filed last year from Mr. ******, the former GM, regarding Mrs. *****. Please let me know what else I can provide. Thanks, *****
I am writing in response to the complaint filed by ***** *****, File # ********. I would like to point out
Island Cove has been a long standing boat dealership since 1995 and a marina since 1949. To the best of my
knowledge this would be the first complaint ever filed with your office. Island Cove averages 1600 repair orders
per year and between 150 to 200 new boat sales per year. We have been complaint free at the better business
for more than 10 years. With this said, I think Island Cove’s reputation speaks for itself.
When the boat in question was delivered ***** ***** was taken on a test ride and the boat performed
as it should. ***** ***** states in her complaint she did not have trouble until her third trip out with the boat. It
is obvious Island Cove could not have been aware of a problem with the boat at delivery. The first time, the
boat was returned with a no start condition. We found the battery was dead. We changed the battery and the
engines started and ran correctly. We took ***** ***** on another long, successful lake test. After the first
dead battery, the boat was returned again and would not start. We found the battery dead again. It is a
common occurrence with new boat owners to leave switches in the on position while in storage causing the
battery to discharge. After changing the battery, replacing the spark plugs, and installing a new battery we put
the boat in the water and tested again for 20 minutes, with no problems. As a good will gesture, ***** *****
was not charged for any of the two prior services.
After the detailed facts above, I would also like to point out the sales order signed by ***** *****
plainly states the boat is sold as is and she accepts the entire risks as to the quality and performance of this
unit. The sales agreement item #13 also states, Brokered boats are sold as is and the buyer is satisfied with its
condition. With all the facts provided, Island Cove feels no obligation to refund the purchase price for this boat.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:I did not leave the switches on, and although I acknowledged it was sold as is, they reassured me that the boat was just serviced and was a very reliable boat with no issues. I had issues immediately and this was confirmed that they were original issues by ****, the guy who took me on the original test run. There was nothing that I did wrong that caused the engines to stop working, start smoking, and rev up without going into gear. There is nothing that I did that caused the hull to take in water. This business is not being truthful.
Sincerely,
***** *****
