When my minisplit was first installed by Advanced, it was done in such a way that the condensation drain pipe was angled upward because the hole to the outside was higher than the hole on the wall mounted unit. This prevented the condensation from leaving the unit, which presumably caused the coil to rust out and fail. While still covered by the warranty, I paid the labor charges to have that repaired and the unit to be lifted and mounted higher to have the drain pipe horizontal (it still is not angled downward, but that would require the unit to be too close to the ceiling, which could be fixed by drilling another hole in the exterior wall, but I’d rather not do that). After all this, the unit began leaking condensation in a stream inside the house. It turns out this was because when the techs moved the unit up, they failed to properly secure the drain hose inside the wall mounted unit. This was the cause of the leak inside the house. Now the company wants me to pay $173 for their trip back to fix what they messed up in the first place. I find that absolutely ridiculous. I have already paid way too much to train the inexperienced techs (what kind of a professional installs a gravity drain pipe with an upward angle?). I wish I had gone with another company in the first place.Customer response
